Mouth ulcers---6 days post op

I thought that I was getting sick yesterday with a sore throat. It turns out that it is just an awful case of mouth ulcers. I am not sure if this has anything to do with the meds but it sure is not comfortable. The ulcers are a mass on the side of my tongue so they are often touching teeth and are so very painful. This is not usual for me but I was just wondering if anyone else has this problem.

Downyocean but you can call me Kay

I did not have that problem, but I would recommend calling your doc (one should be on call) and hopefully they can call something in for you so you don't have to suffer all weekend. (I guess if your mouth is hurting you don't think about the pain elsewhere!). take care.

Kay - you may want to try Peroxyl mouth rinse - by Colgate. It is sold over the counter & is found in the drug stores & grocery stores. This rinse is used after meals & before bed & will help expedite the healing process for minor mouth ulcers & irriatations. (Thrush is another story & as spyrofan stated you will need a prescription medications to treat that)

I found that I had sores on the sides of my tongue also, and questioned it. My darling 15 year old reminded me of the talking I tried to do in post op, and that I most likely chewed my tongue. Sad, but true. They're going away in time.

I had no breathing tube so I don't think I have chewed my tongue. They seem a little better since I used baking soda and peroxide toothpaste. I don't know where the sample came from but it did seem to help things. I go to see the doctor on Tuesday. Hopefully they will be gone by then.

that happened to me, I had thrush, also, from the antibiotics.

I am 6 weeks post op, have thrush AGAIN... grrr

if you have thrush, you need medicine prescribed by your doctor. It's no bad at all, just swish and swallow, or sometimes it's just swish and spit.

Take care! Feel better.
