PMS - also

I'm confused about the whole PMS thing. I thought if you kept your ovaries you still had all of symtoms of a period, just no bleeding. I would have had my period last week and I had ALL the usual stuff -backache, headache, hunger (you get the idea). I had a LSH on the 23rd. I haven't had my 6 wk yet to ask my doctor this.

Nancy and Meno,
I just talked with the doctor to confirm what I am feeling. She said it is what I feel every other month during my period. Headache, nausea, etc., since I kept my ovaries. I must tell you I feel like crap! I feel like someone beat me with a stick... Headache almost feels like the start of a migraine. Haven't had one of those in YEARS!
She said that some people do go into an early menopause, but just because you have a Hysterectomy you don't automatically go into menopause.
As for the bleediing she says this can happen anytime during the 6 weeks on and off. It is the healing process.
Hope this helps both of you!

I haven't had ANY bleeding since I came home. I really went into my sugery uninformed (my fault; not the Drs.). I have so many questions now it's unreal. This web-site has been a blessing!

Yeah...no bleeding here either. I knew that I would still have PMS symptoms if I kept my ovaries though. I talked a lot with my doc before the surgery. I've been taking a multi vitamin, but I think I want to start some extra B6 or primrose oil...I think those are good for PMS. I'm waiting for my 6 week appt. to double check with my doc before starting any supplements. I know PMS...and this weekend was definitely pms. I seriously considered having him take my ovaries to start menopause so I could escape pms. But, I'm only 43 and my mom's menopause started around 53. She is so youthful for 79 and never had to do HRT (she never had a hysterectomy, so I don't know if that affects things...), but I'm hoping I inherited her aging genes and will go through perimenopause and menopause gracefully. LOL! I haven't had hot flashes or headaches( I usually do get headaches with pms, but I've been taking the 800mg motrin this weekend for soreness in my belly so I'm sure that helped)...rambling. This site has been so great for me!! Thanks ladies!

my sister had her hysterectomy 7 years ago, at 38, she said she has no more pms, that over time it will go away. Let's hope that's true for all of us.

I think your body goes thru an adjustment period, that's all, and I'm hoping after that "no more pms".

Hi Ladies
I had LAVTHBSO on 1/23/08 and fortunately my menopause instant has been okay, I am not sleeping that well, have "warm flushes" but my mood is good, no more misery of PMS.
I havent been started on HRT yet and wonder if I am doing okay without it, why rock the boat?
what do you all think?
thanks for any input.

I dident think I was havin trouble sleeping till my dr. convinced me to take some lunesta oh man that was eye opening I dont think I have really slept in years. my dr. explained that when you sleep is when your body is healing itself!that is why it so important to sleep it rejuvinates you. anyway the lunesta is great it dont make me goofy or groggy in the a.m. I take it a hour before bed time and sleep good till around 7am so thats about 8 hours of good sleep. I had on one occasion to be waken up and i did delt with what I needed to and went right back to sleep. so its not so deep a sleep that the house would burn down around you!
