changed body shape

well, here i am, four months down the track, and back to doing pretty much what i did pre-surgery. my weight is exactly the same as it was. but, my body shape belongs to someone else? did they give me a transplant? sold my old one on the black market? I WANT IT BACK - NOW ! ! i know i might've complained about it, when i had it, but, if i promise to appreciate it more, do you think they'll get it and give it back to me??? ..............gee.

Hi Gee -

What's different about your body shape?

I've noticed mine is different too. I'm "fluffy". My belly was round, but evenly so, before the surgery. Now I seem to have an hourglass shape but - from the side. My lower abdomen is larger than my waist from the side.

Like you my weight remains the same. The doctor said my uterus was the size of a volleyball. I asked her how much it weighed and she said one pound! I mean, COME ON! One pound?

I agree with you and I don't know what happened to my frame. I used to have a flat tummy with big hips, after the hyst - I now have a swelly belly at the end of the day and big hips.

I have gained 7 lbs. - not the least big happy about that. I have been excercising everyday and all I have gained is weight...Hope it stops soon...

Mine was 1.75 lbs. World record is 43 lbs (I am talking about fibroid tumours here). One of the largest ones was discovered during an autopsy.

So - one pound? YEAH, no problem!

I so a soy shake once a day...try to eat more protein than carbs.

NB - if you are doing exercises that build muscle, you will gain weight...but it's a false gain in that muscle weighs more than fat. A BMI reading will give you the lean-to-fat ratio.

well, i have what appears to be more fat distributed (even though i weigh the same???) around my waist and hips - well no, it doesn't just "appear" that way, its actual fact. the skirts/pants that used to fit snugly, are too tight still. and some of my slightly bigger pants/jeans fit my hips ok, so i must be somewhere the same size there. but, naked, i look different. sort of lumpier with a softer squishier look. and, with a pot-belly which i never had before, even with my humungus uterus. i guess it may well have morphed into this shape one day anyway, but, when its such a sudden thing, its hard to get used to. hmmm............gee.

at the womens hospital in pittsburgh,,they had a woman with a 78 pound tumour,,can you imagine how long her cut had to be and how many people it took to lift it,,the nurse said the lady thought she was just gaining weight, she had to be in misery,,i lost about 6 lbs, havent had a appetite..gaining back some now but lost my butt and my boobs,,belly not swelled to bad but my jeans look terrible on ,,cant wait to gain some back so my clothes fit again,,doesnt really bother me to wear jeans my incision was vertical,,had a swelly belly at first but now its just a little puffy,,will have to do some exercise when allowed,,didnt do them before but think i need to tighten up the tummy area,,

Maybe I'm not so weird after all. I've always had a weight issue, but I had lost weight before hyst. During the 6 week time, I didn't gain any and was so pleased. Now that I'm working out more intensely, I've gained 5 lbs. Gee, this is so frustrating. I posted a new topic on this before I read this one.

Muscle and fat weigh the same, but muscle takes up less space. I doubt that I've gained that much muscle in a short time, but hey, that sounds good.

thanks.

Hmm. I have gained about 15 pounds total after my hysterectomy.. but I am sure it had to do with my over eating to help me deal with restrictions.. considering I walked 5 miles a day befor emy surgery and have not walked that far since.. slowly working back into things but my muscle tone is totally lost.. I do share the same body shape changes though.. interestingly so.

my muscle tone seemed to stay about the same during recovery. I was so surprised. During recovery, I did some of the same toning moves in a modified way and without weights. My walking speed was way reduced, but I walked nearly every day and increased my time each week.

5 miles per day is great! I walked that much some few days before hyst. I walk with Leslie Sansone walk aerobics. Last week, I walked a 3 mile walk, walk aerobics style. This uses arms with knee lifts, kicks, etc.

thanks.

Yes a huge fan of walking! I was sad when I could not do my walking.. now that I am able to, I walk a few miles a day but my muscles in my arms are mush.. my legs are tight.. need to work on flexability..
