How much time did you take off work?

I recently had a BSO (my ovaries removed). I had my utereus removed over a year ago and finally had to say goodbye to the ovaries for endometriosis. What I am wondering is how much time everyone out there took off work? I went back after two weeks and I am regreting it. I am so tired and getting a little pain. I felt really good before I went to work and half way through my shift ( I work in an ER) I just thought I was going to die. I don't know what to do because I begged my doctor to lift my restrictions so I could go back to work. Just looking for some opinions.

How much time did you take off work?

I had a complete hysterectomy on December 28th and went back to work on January 16th. I was going a little crazy at home. I only worked two days last week and this week I am working four. I am feeling pretty good when my incision is not hurting, it seems to be worse in the morning and late at night. I am 35 and am a Manager for an apartment community so I think age and the desk job helps with being able to recover quicker, but I still hope I am not over doing it. I am really needed at work and no one seems to think that you really have to take 6 weeks off, plus short term disability is no where close to my salary, so what is a girl to do? I am curious to know where in the stomach and/or do most people hurt? How long do they have to take pain medication? Is their scar always numb? How was sex after surgery? Anyone please feel free to comment.

How much time did you take off work?

I had a TAH/BSO and ended up with kidney failure due to severe endometrosis. My doctor gave me 8 weeks and I needed every day/hour/minute.

I went back on the 9th week and I was tired everyday for at least two weeks. I would take a nap during lunch hour and pray to get through the day.

I am not sure what type of procedure you had, so it's hard to say if going back to work after two weeks is too soon. If you can, rest as much as possible - everyone on this website says that, "you only have one time to heal".

Best, P

How much time did you take off work?

I had a complete abdominal hysterectomy, haven't had any problems except for a hematoma which had to be busted and ended up turning into a hole in my incision, but that has now healed up. I can pretty much sit st my desk all day, so that is good, it was kind of getting depressing being at home.

That is what I had done, but they cut me about 8-9" across where my c-section scar was. How are you feeling now?

I think your incision sounds much worse, I would be paranoid something would hit me in the stomach or it would come open!!
