My recovery is no longer about me :( (Child Mentioned)

LuvMyABs,
My heart goes out to you. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
My hope for you is that you can draw strength from everyone's prayers.
This is a lot for anyone to handle. To be recovering yourself puts extra strain on you. I hope that you have a strong support system and allow yourself to accept their help. You really need to take care of yourself too. Just as Yankee has advised, make sure that you get enough rest so you can take care of your son.

Yankeesfan ,
I just wanted to let you know that I will keep you in my prayers. You must be a very caring person to be dealing with your own problems and still reaching out to help others. I hope your daughter is recovering from her operation and that your son is triumphant in his cancer battle.

I am so sorry to hear about everything that is going on with you and your family. Remeber God knows all things even before they happen. He is in control of the situation even though I know you feel you are in the midst of a terrible storm. Try to keep your faith and always seek God. I will faithfully keep you and your family in my prayers.

I know it is hard but try your best to take care of yourself because as a mother I know you have to try to be the strong one here. Please keep us posted.

As I sit here with tears creeping down my cheeks. I thank all of you for your prayers. My DS is on the OR schedule for late morning tomorrow. We were praying for shunt (this drains spinal fluid) free, but it may not be possible. His ICP(inner cranial pressure) is running high, but he feels good and no headaches. The Neuro team is watching close tonight to see if he really needs another surgery. I know that he is in great hands .
The nurses have been great to all of us. They know I am post op, and that DH is doing chemo. Being in the PICU (pediatric intensive care unit) is great. When they bring meals for the patient they also bring parent trays. I have been fed well, and they also brought a cot type bed in for me. Somehow I always end up in the corner rooms that have smaller built in window beds LOL. Unfortunately you can feel the springs in the cot. So my bed is way more comfy at home. When my son was younger (he is 17 now) I would just crawl into the bed with him. My Mom stayed there again. She is a Gem!
I am rambling and really sleepy, but wanted to say that all of my Sisters here have been a wonderful support! Thank You!
Yankee my prayers are with you and your family also. I admire your strength!
I will try to check in tomorrow.

LuvMyABs

Hello. I hope you found some sleep last night.. I am thinking of you and your family this morning after reading your post.. Wondering if your son is having surgery right now as I type.. Praying that all goes well. I am not sure I have the words to help you in your battle.. But I can sit here and go through my very own wounds.. Still fresh and I can not help but to send you warm thoughts.. Loving thoughts because it is such a lonely feeling when you yourself feel that your not able to “save” your family.. Of course I am not sure what emotions you are shifting through.. I know I had moments where I was so extremely sick of the what if’s that I thought I would surely collapse BUT the fact is, I did not. I am still standing.. That saying “God only gives you what you can handle..” has rang true for me although at times I would beg to differ. : )
There is a website www.SpineKids.com .. And in that website is a message board. It is really based on scoliosis BUT there is a section in there about other complications. I found that MANY MANY people on there have gone through similar situations that your son is going through and they may be able to answer some questions you might have… or maybe shine some light on your day. A very good friend of mine told me that I needed to take care of myself.. I tend to put myself on the back burner when it comes to tending to my family.. I said that I was but the reality was that I was not.. Well she caught on and told me that my family needs me and I am not help to them if I am not on my game and feeling my best… that I agree with.
Again your in my prayers! Keep us posted if you can. Thinking of you and wishing you well!

LuvMyABs,

I too want to extend my prayers and hugs your way. I can only imagine what you are going through. I'm glad your mom is available to help out some. Remember, to get your rest and don't over do it too much.
