Um, Something Fell OUT!!!

So, I went to the bathroom at work today and while urinating something fell out! I looked and freaked! It was white and looked like a small piece of gauze. BTW I am 8 weeks into recovery.

I started having pains at week 5 and am awaiting results on an ultrasound right now. They think the remaining ovary might have issues (history of cysts).

Does anyone think the pain could have been caused by whatever this was that fell out?

I have an appt with the doc tomorrow but still kinda panicky here. I wish I had thought to fish it out (I know gross, but the doc might have wanted to see it), but I just freaked instead and flushed.

Has anything like this happened to anyone else? I'm thinking maybe they left some stuff behind.......

Um, Something Fell OUT!!!

jskell911,

I think it's possible that a piece of gauze that is left inside could cause an infection.
Make sure that your doctor listens when you express your concerns.
Don't leave the office until all of your questions are answered.
I'd make a list of any questions that you have so that you don't forget anything.
I'll get you started.
1) If it wasn't gauze that came out, what might it be?
2) If it was gauze, could it have caused an infection?

Good luck, I hope you are feeling better soon!

Thank you! I was worried that maybe an infection may have caused the pain I have been having these past few weeks. No fever, but, ya never know.

Has the pain gone away since you passed it? I passed something lumpy and white a week or so ago! I assumed it was tissue (my tissue, not TP), but decided I wasn't bleeding, so that was good, and no signs of infection, except itchy, which I think is dryness, and the ahces and pains seem to be the normal ones that come post op, but good advice to ask your doc. I hope you're feeling better! Let me know what they think it might have been!

I am hoping it was stitches but if it was guaze please make sure there is no more up there and find out for sure what it was. Good luck and keep us posted as to how you are feeling and what the dr said.

I am not sure how your procedure goes but I watched mine (LSH) online and they actually left a piece of gauze looking stuff on the cervix. I intend to ask my doctor if he did this as well.

No "packing was used. I asked my doc. He thinks it was a stringy mucus plug. But he did order a urine culture to make sure there is no infection.

Thank you, ladies!
