Anemia worse....a change of doctors?

Grace,
Iron deficient nemia is also my issue & getting my hemoglobin up to a 9 is my goal. I feel drained and my olive completion is pale to yellow. It’s been a chronic issue and the stupid iron, B 12 and C vit are doing a number on my stomach. I take it in the evening on a full stomach but I’m awakened by 0200 by stomach cramps and loose stools. I have an appointment with a hematologist TOMORROW.
I need a good nights sleep! My ferritin level is a whopping 4 and no one has bothered to treat it. The GI guy scoped and treated the irritated but NOT BLEEDING stomach. The GYN took me to the OR with Hgb of 8, removed the necrotic fibroid monster and hugely over grown uterus without spilling a drop of blood (he's so proud). He was washed his hands of me too. The Cardiologist treated the chest pain which was not cardiac related and clearly he is off the hook. It’s due to anemia or possibly GERD...and each one punts on treating the chronic and significant anemia. Im sick and tired of feeling TIREED. I am ready to move on!

From my prospective, have the bleeding issue ruled out by the GI doc and follow up with a well recommended HEMATOLOGIST evaluate you.

Please let me know what the hematologist suggests and does for you tomorrow! Thanks for your input, and I will let you know what my gyn. says on Thursday.
Blessings, and you are in my prayers. Stay in touch!

get both done at the same time

Hi Grace.
If you doctor's are suggesting you get both an upper and lower GI, and if you are healthy, you can sometimes get them done at the same time. Therefore, you only have one inpatient visit and one copay. I suffer from severe anemia and have to have this done each year. It saves time and money.

Good luck!

Sessa,
Thanks for your reply! Have you found the cause of your anemia? Sorry you're going through that. Yes, my dr. did mention that I can have both of those tests done at the same time. It makes a lot of sense.
Thanks for your advice. Hope you get better too!
Grace
