How soon can you drink?

I was just wondering how soon after surgery would I be able to relax and have a glass of wine? I must tell you. My birthday was 8 days after my TAH (1/15/08) and all my friends came to visit and while they enjoyed the wine that someone brought over, I drank apple juice from a wine glass! So, I've tried checking the internet, but can't find an answer.

How soon can you drink?

Kim,

I haven't attempted a drink yet as I'm taking migrane meds and sometimes percocets. I would think if your off all the narcotics a glass of wine wouldn't hurt. I don't drink very often but have a banquet to go to next weekend and I'm hoping to be off the meds and be able to enjoy a drink. I'm sure just one will put me right to sleep! lol I don't think I'd risk it if you are still taking prescription painkillers though.

How soon can you drink?

I actually pretty much all but stopped taking percosets about 4 days after surgery and will occasionally take one at bedtime. I normally just take 2 600mg Ibuprofen as needed. Thanks so much for answering my question

How soon can you drink?

Kim,

I am still on Ibuprofen (600mg twice a day) & had my first glass of wine last night. Really enjoyed it & experienced no problems. I think that, as mentioned before, as long as you're off hard core pain killers, a glass won't hurt.

Take care!

Just make sure you are also off your antibiotics...if any. If you drink while taking flagyl it can cause nausea.
I found by the time I could drink...I was a cheap date!

How soon can you drink?

hahaha! that is what i'm wondering, how much of a lightweight I will be. I am a Roller Derby girl and it's the league Championships tonight. My team is vying for the trophy and it's difficult enough that I can't skate with them, so "when" we win I would like to be able to share a toast with my team!
I'm not even 2 weeks out, but I am going tonight nonetheless. I've rested up all day just for it, so a drink will come in handy to relax.

How soon can you drink?

October........Oh wait, that's just me. I'd love to have a glass of wine right about now. I'm on blood thinners, and was told it was a big no no. I don't come off till October.

How soon can you drink?

I got a get well card with a picture of a person in a hospital bed hooked up to a martini IV. It was cute

My doc said drinking was OK after I was done with the narcotics.
