Discomfort in lower abdomen 5 days post-op

On 1/22, I had LSH with no complications. I experienced the typical gas pains, which are 99.9% gone. I have even become somewhat regular and am having at least 1 small BM a day. My question is about the discomfort I am feeling in my lower abdomen. The discomfort is right above where the bladder is, I guess where my uterus used to be. It seems to get worse when I sit on the toilet to go. I am very careful to not strain, but that is what it feels kind of like I am doing. Almost like a straining discomfort. I am guessing that this is normal, since the surgeon was right in that area doing his stuff. But just wanted to hear some other opinions. Does this seem normal to anybody? Has anybody else experienced anything similar?

I think that you are only 5 days post-op. You are going to more than likely feel a bunch of "weird" pains that really don;t make sense. be cautious when you think the gas pains are gone and that you might be regular. If you dont stay ahead of the game its really hard to fix that problem.

You just had your uterus taken out so things are probably really sore and really tender down there. Just make sure you keep taking your pills.. they will help manage every thing for a big..

Best of luck!

You're still *very* early on in your recovery, so the pain you are feeling is likely quite normal. Your body has been through a good deal of trauma, and it's going to take a while to heal. Hang in there, take it easy, and get lots of rest.

Yeah, I kinda figured it was a bit too early in my recovery to be expecting anything even close to resembling normal. But I just had to ask.

Thank you so much for the replies. That is one of the things I love so much about this board. I can ask what seems like the dumbest question to me and you gals will take the time to explain things to me so I don't get confused. I LOVE it here!

bladder stuff

I've noticed if I let my bladder get too full, I will have bladder spasms, that are very painful, so I try to go every 3 hours even if I don't feel the urge, to keep my bladder drained. That helps a lot!

At the hospital, the nurse neglected to empty my pee bag until it was overflowing and I was straining to go and could not push it out, because the tube and my bag were full! This caused me so much unnessesary pain! I am going to tell my doc that the nurse was lousy - she let that happen 3 times and it was torture. You should not have to strain to go, just try to sit there, relax your muscle and let it flow. Hope this helps you.

I had my surgery on Wed. and am feeling so much better being home.
