Any weird cravings once your appetite returned?

No super cravings - just food that reminds me of being a daughter again. Grilled cheese sandwich, fried okra and ice cream. I was lucky to have my mom here and she was very very good to me.

I have been having a BIG glass of milk usually with Malted Ovaltine in it nearly every night before bed. I usually only had milk a couple times a week, maybe a small glass or with cereal.

Any weird cravings once your appetite returned?

I'm 2 years past a total hysto. My taste buds started changing right after the surgery and they are still completely different. I used to drink white wine - now I can't stand the smell of it. Chocolate -- used to love it and now I walk right past the candy dish at work. The list goes on and on. I'm guessing it has something to do with hormones -- any other comments out there? My cravings are bing cherries -- and I used to never eat cherries -- now my husbandhas to hide them so he can have some.

Same here Ladyone, although I'm only a couple of weeks out. I used to be a chocolate freak, but now my cravings are for more tart and sour things like fruit.

Any weird cravings once your appetite returned?

I'm right at five months post-op and still have no appetite! Nothing sounds good, looks good or smells particularly appealing. Too bad the weight is not just melting off! Had blood tests done last week and still waiting for results to see if thyroid is off or if kidneys, liver and blood sugars are out of whack. It's such an odd thing to FEEL your stomach growl, know you must eat or get a migraine, and not have a desire to do so.

Hmmmm.....

Sharp cheddar cheese, string cheese, and red wine. I never ate cheddar or string cheese or drank red wine before the surgery, which is why it is such a weird craving now.

Well its good to know that I'm not alone. I even quit using sugar in coffee, etc

Is the consensus that it is hormones? Even though I'm 2+ years past I still love this website -- makes you feel you are "normal" (whatever that it).

Funny...I was on a clear diet when I was in the hospital and when I came home I continued on that same clear diet. I didn't have an appetite to eat anything. Then when I tried the soft foods then my stomach couldn't handle that; so I went back to the clear diet.

I haven't had any cravings...just not an appetite to eat any large meals. It's like when I have dinner I eat less than half. It's weird; but good.

Yes, I remember that. I basically lived on nothing but Robek's smoothies from weeks 3-7. If I did eat real food, I threw up. Unfortunately, my appetite returned with a vengeance right around 2 months postop and now I want to eat all the time.

FISH!! But that may have something to do with the Red Lobster adds I keep seeing, LOL. Protein in general is what I'm craving. Our bodies will tell us what we need if we listen.
