The dr tried to send me back the end of this week and I refused to go! He said a LAVH did not equal the full time off work that a TAH does. Go figure, he's a man because on my post op visit on Mon, he thought I should be feeling great. I do x-rays on people who don't need help getting dressed, on the table, etc and I run the office. I told the girls they might have to help me some. And I mean that last part. I'm always doing extra things for them so they can return the favor for a few weeks.

I was right!

Tuesday evening I went to the urgent care clinic on our base because I suspected I had an infection, but I thought it was a UTI. Fortunately, the doctor did a culture because they called me back this evening saying I need to go back to my surgeon because I have a post-op infection.

Gee, ya' think that is why I spent the day in bed shaking like a leaf? They did give me a broad spectrum anti-biotic on Tuesday evening, (couldn't fill it until the next morning,) so hopefully it is working on it and I'll feel better tomorrow, but that still means a trip to see the surgeon, and I know he will want to take a look, OUCH

At least I know I wasn't crazy, I knew I had an infection!!

Hi everyone. I had TAH, removal ovaries also on Monday and came home this morning. Monday is a total blur, my son said I asked him 3 times what time he got home! Tuesday i felt great, they took the cath out, urinating was no problem, i was up and even walking some. Then the gas pains hit! WoW! But my nurses were great, encouraged me to get up and move which helped, reminded me this was part of the process and by Wed morning they were better. Of course then the nauseau hit, but again my nurses were great, got me thru that and now I am home and feeling pretty good. Incision hurts, and Im exhausted, but glad to be home. Hope everyone elses experience went as well as mine.

Constipation Cocktail

Good Morning ladies:
I had to visit the DR yesterday because I was in such pain mainly due to constipation. DR suggested his constipation cocktail (Magnesium Citrate) along with supository and I spent alot of time in the bathroom cleansing the colin last night. I feel so much better this AM and did get a good 6 hrs of sleep! I still have some pain from surgery but it is managable!

Okay, now I'm laughing. I was tempted to take that route as well. It worked so well before surgery. Doesn't it feel so much better to get things going?

Congrats on Cancer Free.

back to square one

I got home just a while ago from seeing my surgeon. Turns out it wasn't an UTI, but a full blown post-op infection of the vaginal cuff, (yep, you all were right, no cervix, don't know why we both though he said it was still there.) Anyway, the antibiotic they gave me in the ER didn't work on the culture so now I'm on an appropriate one, plus one to use internally so the infection doesn't spread to the anterior incision or the mesh he placed to support the rectocele.

Now I know why I have been violently shivering constantly. I guess all the Naproxen has kept the fever in check. Isn't this just so much fun
