Am I the only one without a 2 week check?

My first post op is not until Feb 18th 1 month this just seems weird I just dont feel well no fever but spotting everytime I call the DR they tell me wait til next week if it is still happening we will get you in. I don't even feel like I have a vagina (hate that word LOL) I am still spotting and whenever I go to the bathroom I get red blood spotting. Last night I had the worst pain in a week and a half. Mt DR goes on vacation next week and I am scared everything is going to happen when he leaves then I will have to see someone I do not know. With any luck I would get the DR that delivered my DGD or the 35 year old that assisted with my surgery( I think too young and good-looking for me) Should I call and just insist on a check up When I called after hours the on-call never seen me said probably just a henatoma. Or should I call and just try to talk to the DR instead of talking to the nurse I just feel like something is not right and I know I am so early in my recovery I got dizzy last night and doubled in pain and my DH was very worried but I told him they want tme to wait. my emotions are raw and I am just sick and tired of lying around on drugs 24/7 or being halfway normal in a little pain until it hits me with a big one Am I just paranoid and over emotional

Not sure if you are the only one without a two week appt. I know I did. I think you need to call and insist on an appt before your doc leaves. Your gut instinct is that you need to be seen so I would go with that. If everything goes well at the appt then at least you can relax. You do not want to be nervous about what could be wrong....It is probablly nothing, but better to be safe. Be assertive, call and get an appt.
Good luck!

Am I the only one without a 2 week check?

Hi Kkhill,

You aren't the only one without a 2 week post op... I too have to wait.. my appt is Feb 15. That's 5 weeks for me...
I think if I didn't have all the ladies on this site, I would have been extremely concerned about having to wait. I too have experienced some of the things you mentioned. I had some bright red spotting but not flowing. From what my doc told me when I left the hospital, it is to be expected. The only time you really need to be too concerned is if you are filling a pad in a short amount of time. If it's just spotting, be assured that it is normal.
As for the pain, I also have sharp pains occassionally. Most of the time, I have a constant dull ache in my abdomen but then out of the blue something sharp. It comes and goes.
Your emotions also will get the better of you for a while. I have tried to accept that part... although as a person who was never very emotional, it's very strange!

If you are really concerned and cannot find peace, you must call your doc and insist on being seen or at least speaking on the phone.

Relax and take care of yourself...

Am I the only one without a 2 week check?

I agree. I am only 7 days post op but I went yesterday to get my cathater out and was giving a two week appt for a check up. You are the only one who knows your body and how you feel and your DR needs to give you an appt so that you can relax. As long as you are stressing over what could be wrong. You need to call and tell them that you dont feel right and you dont want to wait until your DR comes back you need an appt asap. Best of luck and keep us posted on happens.

Am I the only one without a 2 week check?

I do not have a two week appt set either, I called the DH office as my appt was not for 5 weeks and I want to go back to work by then as I'm doing better than I expected at two weeks. They changed my appt to 4 weeks instead by my calling the office. Although. if I was bleeding I would insist on an appt before he goes away. Best wishes.....

Am I the only one without a 2 week check?

I was not scheduled to see my Dr. until 6 weeks which is Feb 8th. I had no staples or stitches to remove just dermabond and steri strips. I did call to ask about some hard spots above my incision and the NP saw me the next morning. Luckily it was just fluid retention.
You are still very early in your recovery, and even though I had a TAH I still bled for 2.5 weeks and have read that some bleed for 6 weeks. I was told 1 pad an hour was too much. Everytime I went to the bathroom there was lots of blood for at least 2 weeks. Then it decreased. If you really feel that something is not right you should be seen by someone even if it is at the ER. Call your Drs. office and ask to leave a message with the Dr..

Best Wishes

Am I the only one without a 2 week check?

Hi kkhill,
I did not have one either, as a matter of fact I'll be 3 months post op on the 1 st. and I have not had an internal exam, My dr. says that because I'm having issues with my incision he'll just wait. Yet I'm cleared for all activities even sex. I guess it just depends on your dr. However I feel that if you have discomfort you should call and make an appointment.
Good healing.

Am I the only one without a 2 week check?

Ive been wondering about you. Once we leave the preop board we all get lost.
First, I was told most have 4 week checkups. I have one a few days past 3 weeks because we will be going on vacation and my doc wants to see me before I go.
Next- Im 8 days out and I still feel almost like the day I came home, still bleeding, having BM issues, etc. I spoke with my doctor about other things bothering me like the bladder hurting and the vagiflutters Im having and hearing his voice made me feel better. (He's a real sweetheart- sexy- about my age-39 or younger, didnt think I could handle that but its been a plus) Anyway he has called me several times. I say if for no other reason than to give you piece of mind they should at least have him call you on a break or before he leaves for the day. since he's going to be gone next week they may be trying to get all of these other people taken care of before he goes, and is why theyre bring stingy with appointments, but a phone call at least is in order. I would call and just tell them that its very important for your doctor to call you back concerning the surgery he performed. They need not know anything else. I'd tell them its important that you hear something back today and dont mind if its an afterhours call.
Besides the blood and tenderness, whats going on? Come in to the post op thread Im in (the one for jan 22nd) there are quite a few of us in there who are having issues, finding ansWers, etc. There were a whole mess of us who had surgery that week. I know its a week behind you but maybe if you had quite a few who had the same proceedure to talk to, it would help. Good luck to you
