Are they the electric ones or the cloth ones? I had electric up till I left the hospital and liked them very much. Makes the hair on your legs grow but made my legs feel better? I would call your dr and doouble check incase you have them for any other reason then precaution.

I'm assuming you're talking about the white TED stockings that were put on your legs in the hospital because they don't send you home with the electric ones. I think once you are up and mobil you can stop wearing them. Check with your doctor to be sure.

I was told to keep the white stockings on for "as long as possible" ~ particularly whilst I was still resting alot. I erred on the side of caution and kept them on for about a month!

As ((Catherine)) has said ~ why not give your doctor's office a call? I hope your recovery is going smoothly!

My doctor and hospital nurses told me to leave them on as long as I was immobile. After the 2nd day home, I was up and about all day so I only wore them at night. I stopped wearing them at night after a week.

Mine were off on day 2 also. Nobody ever told me I was supposed to wear them. I just assumed they more for during surgery. I didn't know! But I guess it didn't hurt anything by not wearing them.

My doc told me to wear them when I wasn't up and moving around. Once the catheter was out I was up and down all the time. I wore them home from the hospital and took them off shortly after I was home so they came off on day 2. Might have worn them longer if I still had the electric messagers - those were kinda cool!

I was told I could take mine off when I got home (I asked the nurse as I was checking out, because I forgot to ask earlier). She said if I wanted to keep wearing them to take them off every 2 or 3 days to let my legs rest. I thought they felt good until I took them off, I still have a cut on my leg where one of them wasn't on right and had rolled down.

I took them off right before coming home from the hospital. I hated the massagers in the hospital because it kept me awake. I was not told to wear them anytime after. Since, I paid for them I do have them at home. I will ask Doc at my one week appt in the morning.
