Did anyone experience any side effects from taking aygestin vs. estrogen? I noticed almost immediately that my cravings for sweets intensified or almost doubled! Plus I'm a bit crabbier (moody) on the progestin. Would love to hear your thoughts! Hopefully once the doc determines that the endo is gone or in remission she will switch me back to the estrogen (vivelle patch). I didn't have any problems with the .1 dose.

After my TAH-BSO I was put on Prometrium. I noticed that my appetite increased. I gained about 10 lbs right away. UGH! I also noticed that I was crabbier than usual. I stayed on this for 4 months before my gyn put me on Vivelle Dot. It was a rough 4 months but I know it was for the best to stay off of estrogen. I knew it was temporary. I feel better now that I am on estrogen.

Jennifer,
I soooo have the crabbies its not even funny! Hopefully I can go back on the estrogen after awhile...this progestin is not being nice to me! Are you still taking prometrium? I sure hope I don't gain a bunch of weight back, that would be awful!!

Trish,

My gyn just switched me today from Prometrium to a compounded progesterone. Hopefully it will be better. I told her about the weight gain and she said that some women do not do well on the pills because of the effect it has on the liver. I will try this but I would like to eventually get off of progesterone altogether. She might not let me since I had endo. Hopefully I can get some of this weight off now. Oh, she also upped my estrogen patch today. Woo hoo! I feel awesome! I feel the surge. LOL It will go back down and level out after a couple of days but I love the initial energy and overall great feeling when I am upped. LOL Can't wait to reach the balanced hormones. The jungle is no fun!
