I need your guidance

Hello all!
I had a TAH five years ago and have been on Climara .1 patch since.
After reading many of the hormone posts I realize that probably a number of my issues could be related to the hrt.
Anxiety, depression, aches in back hip and feet and shoulder, vertigo.
With all of the press about how hrt doesn't really help with heart disease or bone loss, why should I continue to put these chemicals in my body?
I have not replaced my weekly patch in 6 days and outside of some headaches and a small night sweat last night, I am ok.
What can I expect to happen now and perhaps somebody has advice regarding slowly weaning off the .1 patch.
My dr. has never tested my hormone levels nor has he recommended progesterone as so many of you are using.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I need your guidance

I think it is gentler on the body to wean off of hrt very slowly. I have been on the patch for almost 5 years and did not plan to stay on it all my life either . I have been slowly going to lower dose patches over time. I tried at first to just stop or to lower quickly, and it did not work out so well, the hot flashes, and insomina, moods were not good.

You might go to your doctor and ask for the next lowest patch and stay on it for a year, that has worked out the best for me. I started on .075 and now I am on .025. I get a warm flush once in awhile so I think by this summer I may try to drop it, as it will be a year on .025. I will have to see how the hot summer goes for me though.

I do not feel the full effects of being on a lower dose for about a month or so. Everyone is different in what symptoms they get as they lower or get off depending how they store the estrogen.

I have not had any tests to see what my hormone levels are. I will tell you in all these years we have been testing my bone density, and in my case, I have lost bone with taking estrogen, using weights , exercise, eating healthy and taking magnesium, calcium, and vit. D.
I think maybe my body does not absorb calcium anymore, or it cannot be changed by what I do after I hit a certain age. I am petite build and average weight and this also may play a part in the problem, as I don't have much place to store estrogen since it is stored in fat cells.

I have a family with cancer, no breast cancer, but my mom had ovarian cancer years after she had her hyst, so yes just because your ovaries are removed you still can get it. She was on hrt from age 27 to 57 and lived only 6 mos. I am concerned taking hrt , but it is a choice we all have to make for ourselves.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do.
