Surgery webcasts

Amazing stuff! Have a safe journey and ongoing speedy recovery.

I'm not particularly squeamish and like to know how things work, so I watched several hysterectomy webcasts before my surgery. My favorite was the one from North Carolina because it was for uterine cancer, which was my diagnosis. It showed lymph node removal, but the final suturing was left off because of time constraints. It ran more than 90 minutes.

Kathy, just wanted to say that the Alpha/ESL program sounds awesome!! Congrats on making it happen!

I forget now who knows ASL, but I just wanted to say I'm an ASL interpreter full time...cool that we both know it! I love that you've incorporated the Spanish and ASL into a kid's program and working with the animals. Too cool.

Recovery Goind Great

I had my TAH on 2/7 and I am doing great. I spent two nights in the hospital. Got my prescription filled for Percoset when I left but I have not taken any since I left the hospital. Not even taking motrin.

I have been dilligent about walking everyday. I try to walk for one hour each day and go a little further each day. I am up to 3-1/2 miles.

My bowels are moving on their own...although I am taking some fiber pills to help things along.

I do have some swelly belly but it seems to be getting better. I guess it will take a while. My incision is numb on the left side, but I am starting to get feeling back on the right side.

I feel almost too good to be true. Is there something that I am missing? Am I going to wake up in pain one day? I am not lifting anything heavier than 10 lbs and taking a nap each afternoon.

Planning to go back to work this week for half days.

Wish I understood this whole recovery thing. I am tempted to have sex, but have heard too many horror stories so despite feeling great, I will continue to wait until my 6 week post op check-up.

Pumpkin spice, have you tried cold packs on your stomach? I find I use them all night long, they really help me.

My tip would be slow down. It is going to take time to recuperate after major surgery. My surgery was the 5th, and my chief complaint it tiredness big time. I had vag'hys and you should hear me grumbling at night trying to find a comfort spot...my abdomen is sore also....give yourself time.

It's been a while since my last post. All is going very well here. We had a few hot days and I had the air con on to cool things down. My recovery is going very well, no pain meds at all, lower tummy pain all but gone. I havn't been able to do a lot of walking though, a bit too hot outside, I tend to get a bit giddy and over heated like that feeling you get when you are just about to faint, so I have had to ease off a little and make sure there is someone with me.

Kathy - Big O - Leave a girl alone for a weekend and see what happens !!!

We were supposed to go to a Rod Stewart concert last night but had to cancel and sell out tickets to someone else on ebay, not happy about that... DH was certain that I'd not be well enough in time, he was right I wouldn't have been able to help myself and would have ended up exerting too much energy.... I really don't want to halt progress on my recovery. I've spent too much time in the last 18 months sick and unable to look after the family ( had a breakdown Nov 06). I'm so determined to being back as a full time wife, mother and woman. My husband has had to deal with so much and he is such a great man, it's his time now.

Everyone on this forum seems to have such an interesting life. I'm just a country girl living in a small country town, which is part of a very small country, I've no degrees, I don't have to work so I'm able to be available for our kids at any time. I travelled before I was married, but havn't been able to do much since. I love sculpting and have learnt how to weld. This year I really want to get a lot more work done so that I can hold an exhibition. I paint a little, mostly abstract stuff. There is no hidden meaning behind my painting I just love to experiment with colour. I can't wait to get better.

Good evening ladies,

I am finally settling in for the night. Had a couple great days, just really tired and somewhat sore but sure was wonderful to do things.

Taddywoo: I to search out videos on the lsh. It took a few times of watching to figure what was what. I found that it helped me be totally prepared for the operation. I also did this when I had my spine surgery.

Loves to run: I to was alone for half a day, daughter and husband at a barrel racing event. TMI you and others are very right the Big "O" is different, perhaps more intense !
Very releaved to know all works.

Tomorrow I am driving to the beach with two dear high school friends. Do a little shopping, beach walking (what I can do that is) and hit the casino for awhile.

Well I have to go for now, the cookies are done and I should eat one. With the aneima and the prior surgery I have lost 25-30 pounds of muscle and some fat. Way too thin right now. Anyways everyone have a great evening.

Hey Girls!

I had and adventure today - drove over to Quincy, had lunch with DH then off to Kohl's to buy some support panties (figure I will need this when I start showing dogs again, so get them on sale and use them some instead of this abdominal wrap), then off to Staples and last of all Walgreens..... It was so great to be out of the house for fun and not a doctors appointment! I think I was gone about 3 1/2 hours - was a little tired and ready to sit when I got home....

I just wish the weather were nicer so I could walk more, but no way am I going out on gravel with ice/snow on top.... Sounds like everyone is having a good weekend so far and sounds like we have all made improvements by leaps and bounds ovr the past few days.

So everyone have a wonderful evening!

Happy Healing

Evening all... Im really tired tonight. Did almost a mile walk today. Tried to nap this afternoon, but DH is home, the phone rang off the hook, dog barked at all the kids playing outside, not a good nap at all. So now Im tired and hurt. Just took a vicodin which i havent had to do except before bed in almost a week. My daughter and son in law just left and i found myself wishing they would leave about an earlier than they did! lol. But all is quiet now and i am laying on the couch watching a movie.
Enjoy your evening all.
