On Friday, I had to take my son to be tested for retinopathy of prematurity. That took 2 hours with an hour drive. Then, we had a dinner at church. I was exhausted and I spent all day on Saturday at home relaxing. Did get to watch the Heels whoop up on Duke. What a glorious event!!!!!!! I am still in a lot of pain with a new pain on my left side. I go to the doctor on Tuesday for my 4 week checkup.

Hello Sisters

thanks for all the support and love...

you all are right the dr did warn me that the emotional side of this might be extrem with the ovaries gone, so i'm going to talk to him about it. it does help to know i'm not in this alone, i think it helps for all of us.

well as for today i'm still in that kind of blue funk emotionally but all the hugs and love have helped this morning. i think it's going to be one of those "just chill" days as my DD and DS would say! both teen! go figure..
as for the insomnia well i think i've been up for about 12 hours....tried to go to bed, but didn't sleep. good gravy i'm tired of me whining so enough of that. I've got to snap out of this funk....

i would love to do the one year get together, i think it would be a blast..
i'm reading all the post from last night and this morning and i just can't put into words how much it means to have the support. you ladies and this site was a God send and to think i didn't find it until about 2-3 weeks post op? but so glad that i did..

michell.. i also want to add my yes better safe than sorry...check out the pain and we are here for you on the support side. hope you feel better.

cindy...i hope your bird is better and on the recovery road as well ....

well ladies i think i'm going to go make sure all the clocks are ahead, and find some hot tea to drink
i'll check in later and big hugs to all ...

Hi Ladies,

Wow, so many posts... I think all of you are (except Cindy) are in the central or eastern time zones because I wake up in the mornings and have a ton of fun messages to read. :-) I'm 3 hours behind the east coast.

Anyway, I just love this site.... it is such a great thing for me. I agree with all who have said this over and over again how great it is to have this support system. :-)

Well, for me.... I did not sleep well last night, but not because of my body/recovery, but because of my 5 year old son. ugh. He spiked a fever lalst night before bed of 103.5... but with no other symptoms.... just a fever. Anyway, I gave him Tylenol, and PRAYED this would not turn into anythign worse becasue I don't want SICK in my home! I put him to bed, but he managed to get up out of bed about every 2 - 3 hours and come into my room and tap me on the shoulder... One time, I was in a deep sleep and he kept tapping me on my shoulder, and I sort of half woke up, and turned my head and saw this body just standing there... HAHA.... didn't have my glasses on, and it didn't register at that moment that it was my son.... well, at that moment, I think my body forgot it had surgery because I literally leaped out of of bed quicker than I ever have and yelled, "WHO IS IT?" HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My husband jumped out of a deep sleep and my 5 year old began to cry because I startled him.... oh my.... it was quite the drama at 3 AM. UGH!

Anyway, within 2 seconds I realized there was not some stranger staring at me over my bed, but it was my 5 year old who just needed some comfort.

But, he managed to get up ever 2 - 3 hours. UGH!! LONG night. I was SORE this mornign when I woke up and I think it was a combo of me not getting a full-night's sleep and my jumping out of bed, LITERALLY, at 3 AM.... that hurt!

so, I'm vegging out right now in my bathrobe on the couch and kind of in a groggy state, and my body just is so exhausted and kind of achy. But, my son's temp is down to normal now, so who knows.... sometimes they get these 12 hour bugs that don't really brew much past a fever. Both kids had flew shots, so maybe that is why he's not getting more sick.

I am now making my other son (my 7 year old) drink airborne (I love that stuff) because I don't want him to catch whatever it was my 5 year old had, and I have been drinking Airborne, too. My HOPE is they will not miss school this week and they will be healthy because during this recovery, I've been LOVING it the kids are at school all day.... it's my time to be by myseslf and rest adn only think about me!

So, that is what is going on now... everyone seems to be OK now, so I'm hoping whatever this fever thing was is in the past. :-)

Roberta: re: the conference in London I'm going to, luckily, my hotel is just a 5 minute walk from the conference center where I'll be at, so I do plan to go back and take naps when I can. I am like you... a Cat nap does WONDERS for me, even if it's just 20 minutes.

As for the cruise or whatever it is... i'm all for it! I think that'd be awesome. We should take it to the PM, though, because even if this site didn't care we shared personal info (phone numbers, email addresses, etc), I woudl not want to post that on a public forum because you never know who is lurking.... WHY someone weirdo would want to lurk and read about all of our hysterectomy recovery stuff.... BMs, and all.... is beyond me, but you just never know these days. haha.

Ok, I'll check in again later....

-Kathy

Afternoon All!
It never ceases to amaze me how, no matter what rate our recovery is at, we all seem to be hitting different levels of the famous "brick walls" at the same time! I have been having a good recovery and the past few days I have pain and am completely exhausted! I have been doing less and less each day! I admire the pace at which some of you are able to follow! Keep it up! I am still not driving, my dr says not till at least week 6-8!

Ally-I am with you! I have been living in lounge pants from Old Navy, except when I have to go out and I am wearing out the one comfortable pair of jeans that feel good!

Michelle-best wishes are coming at you from all parts of the world! Keep believing in yourself and follow your instincts! Soometimes we know ourselves better than the professionals!

For those of you who really want to feel better, we are digging ourselves (not me of course...) out of a second snowstorm this week! We have had easily a foot of snow, with very high winds today! All of you in a warm place...enjoy the sun for me, it is out today, but I am not risking frostbite to enjoy it!
Keep smiling everyone, each passing day brings a new adventure and that is how I am trying to look at this journey!

Good afternoon to all,
has anyone had a problem with taste buds? The things I enjoyed before
my TAH, especially Special K with almonds, I have no desire for them. Do anyone know if the insonmia will eventully subside? I work at a castle, and
work all 3 shifts, and can't imagine working 11 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. without any sleep, its unheard of. I thank you in advance........God Bless!

Zieque, I am so sorry you are having such a rough time, but who else can you whine to if not us? We all get it! I hope they get your hormones balanced SOON.
Allyb--I am in the no clothes to work club! (I have been doing ok for short periods in jeans, but I always have a rubberband so I can unbutton unzip and use the rubberband trick.)
Michelle--I am so sorry you are in such pain and fear. I really hope it turns out ok. If you aren't running a fever, maybe you need to see if they can do a scan to see what is going on?

I am having a lot of aches and pains again that went away a few weeks ago, esp those at the top of the hip joints in front. I have no idea why. This is really a rollercoaster. But I am hoping that at least today may be I will get a walk in--it does make the swelly belly worse, but I sleep better, so its a trade off.

Oh my goodness, Deb, what a great idea... the ol' rubberband trick!! I had not thought of that for this recovery, but I used to do that when i was pregnant and in that inbetween stage where you can't fit regular clothes, but you can't fit into maternity yet. I might try that...

Although, I think the BEST idea is the no clothes to work thing... haha.... unfortunately, the co-workers may not appreciate it, though. haha.

Me too on the taste bud thing. I can eat something one day and the next day I have to spit it out.

Just got home from a very long few days. Lets see Thusday, felt like crap. Friday went to my DD High School Equestrian Meet which last several days. She did wonderful with her team penning team, they got first out of 31 teams, State here we come. Anyway I spent Friday night with a friend at the meet while DH took care of my girl. Saturday started off great watching the meet and visiting and then all of the sudden I was sitting there are all around me were asking if I was ok. I only answered I don't know. Got up to take a walk and friends followed. They ended up taking me back to the motel and made me take a nap. Mind you I don't take naps. It sort of felt like I had been lifted out of my body. Little light headed and chest felt weird. Took a very fitful nap for 3 hours and then felt ok. Very weird and I will have to admit scary, but you did'nt hear that from me. HA,HA

I am getting tired of hitting this walls and it is funny that we all do it at about the same time.

So it's Sunday and I drive back to the meet were DH an DD's are. Stayed till 1:30 watching the gaming events. Now I am home and reading the posts.

Yes if this site was not here I do not know what I would do with my time. I know go nuts and do more things I am not suspost to do.

As far as pain goes, yes still get stabbing pains when move a little wrong that can double you over. Ribs still hurt and still get swelly belly at end of day, so have the neccessary change of pants, from jeans to sweats.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday evening. Since I am home now I get to wait for phone calls about how the meet is going.
