any sisters have PCOS & total hyster?

Hi everyone,
I was diagnosed with insulin resistance and PCOS about 5 years ago. My symptoms started at about age 23.

Major hair loss on the head, hair growth on the face, extra weight around my middle, really bad acne, very tired all of the time, and very long heavy periods. After about 5 years of going from dr to dr I finally got the diagnosis of insulin resistance and PCOS.

You have to see an endo or as others have mentioned a reproductive endo. I have been on metformin (which is very hard on the stomach) for several years. I have also been attending Weight Watchers and lost 20 pounds. I want to lose 20 more and then I will be happy. I had my TVH 4 weeks ago to "fix" my menstual problems but kept my ovaries since it would make no difference in the other symptoms. I am also currently having bikini laser hair removal and will soon start my chin and lip.

My dr says it's a never ending cycle of being overweight, the insuline resistance and PCOS makes the metobolism sluggish which feeds the problem of being overweight and so the cycle continues. It has taken me 7 months to lose 20 pounds but I'm bound and determined to finish the weight loss which should stabilize my insulin levels and in return stabilize my hormone levels from the ovaries and adrenal gland. Then I'm hoping to come off the metformin.

The long heavy periods were weird cuz that is opposite what most women with PCOS experience and I no trouble getting pregnant 2x. My pathology report on my uterus showed adenomyosis which explains the long heavy cycles. I'm not sure if this condition is also closly connected to PCOS like insulin resistance or if I just had two totally seperate conditions.

Good luck to you all, PCOS is a frustrating thing to deal with especially if you are really self concious about your image like me. Keep pushing until you get in with an endo. It's your health, don't let anyone discourage you!
