Positive return to intimacy

I had sex the night I was released at exactly 6 weeks post surgery. The first time for me was fine and did not hurt at all!! We did procede gently and had lube just in case, but didn't need it. I am tighter now and require a gentle touch, but sex was fine at first and just keeps getting better. Some people feel better with solo prep work and some like to do it with their partner. I think either way is fine, just listen to your body and be patient as you figure it all out Good luck to all, but remember to wait for that all clear!

Positive return to intimacy

I am very happy to read these positive posts. I will keep a positive outlook for when I am cleared. DH will miss Valentines Day so will have to make it up to him for our anniversary in March.

Positive return to intimacy

I'm glad to read all the positive posts. It's gives me hope!!!
I'm only two weeks post op and right now the thought of sex ever again scares me. My DH was being loving the other day and made a comment about being glad when the Dr. gives the Ok on Sex and I told him he will be lucky if I give the Ok a year from now!

Positive return to intimacy

Hi Sundoll!

I'm one of the lucky ones, I guess.. first time & each time since has been awesome! To say my desires were strong is an understatement! And I thought that was just an effect of surgery; that my system was 'out of whack' or something. However, I still have strong desires 3+ months later & all is going well!

Everyone is different & some take longer than others but even my Dr. had told me that if it was good before, it shouldn't change after.. luckily in some cases, it's even better than before!

I was so nervous once I got the ok at 6 weeks and it took until 8 weeks before I was ready. It was good and I am sure will continue to get better. Just have to remember to take it slow....

I was more terrified of "6 weeks sex" than I was of losing my virginity! I was so nervous I didn't think I would be able to have an orgasm but suprisingly it was FANTASTIC! I don't think it was waiting so long to have sex, it was like when the doctor took out my uterus and cervix she gave me a present...a magical clitoris!~I seem to be able to climax MUCH quicker and more intense than before. A present for all of my pain

Better than ever

After TAH 11/27/07, I was ready and waiting for my 6 week checkup to get the go-ahead for nooky. It was a little bit tender, but still satisfying! Within another week or so, it was almost completely back to normal. Actually, I think that sex is even better than it was before. I was concerned about my level of pleasure being affected in a bad way, but I believe it is actually more explosive than ever. I'm so relieved and happy. This hysterectomy has made my life better in so many ways. I use an estrogen patch and use natural progesterone cream 2x a day and feel terrific. I'm age 46. I'm back to skiing, playing tennis, weight lifting, all at the same level as before. Don't worry sisters, life is good following a TAH!

I was cleared for sex at four weeks (sigh, I know) and waited til eight. We tried the other night and we had so much fun! Not so much sex going on, but we had fun anyway. I was so terrified that, LOL!, I had Astroglide everywhere and from now on I know we do not need so much cause (TMI) even though we achieved penetration, we really could not feel much but the Astroglide. My vagina works, that makes us happy...practice, practice, practice!

Hi! I, for one am glad for the TMI! I, too, had TAH/BSO and am wondering if you are on any HRT? My Dr. put me on Estratest and at 3 weeks out I have had "thoughts" and desire. I will wait for the six week "ok". Happy that sooo many of you are having sexual success after what we've gone through!!

I was a little nervous about the first time after surgery, but everything was just fine. DH has been careful, but I have had no pain with intercourse and I think my libido has increased.
