I hope this will get a laugh from my hyster-sisters.

My insurance company has denied all claims from the surgery because they have me down as a Male. They said the procedure is not applicable for a male. YA THINK?
Supposedly my husband's employer has me down as a male, and they have to fix it before the healthcare company will re-submit anything for approval.

That is one of the best insurance snafu's I have ever read. it is amazing how such a small paperwork error can cause so many issues. Kinda like how the people who handle the retired military pay kill people off and then have to fight to get them "re-activated"

I had my perscription for birth control pills denied on two seperate occassions because they listed my gender incorrectly on my insurance from my employer where I have been employed for over 10 years, and with this particular insurance company for 3 before they decided I no longer needed the pill... lol.. i was livid... "do I sound like a man to you?" After I got my persciption though it was funny.

You seem to be taking the error in stride. I am sure it will all be cleared up quickly. I found that as soon as HR got involved I had no more issues. Good luck!

yes, the insurance company caught me on a day when the hormones were not fluctuating, so I was able to laugh.
But now the anesthesiologist's office just called me...and they ain't laughing. Ugh!

You gotta laugh at the insurance companies or you would cry! My first preauthorization came thru with the wrong date at the wrong hospital and had me approved for same day admission and discharge for a TAH w/ BSO. I've heard of drive-bys, but a drive by hysterectomy is crazy! (Keep the engine running, honey, I'll be back out in an hour or so...LOL!!!!!)The second had the right date and 2 nights, but still wrong hospital. Finally, 3rd was right with the correct date and correct hospital. Good lord! I hope you get it all straightened out! Best wishes!

I was listed as male on my MD driver's license when I first moved there from PA. How many men have a name of Kathryn Lynn? Just one little typo and you've got a nightmare to deal with. Good luck with the insurance company.

I had faxed my paper work to AFLAC for my disability & they e-mailed me to inform me my claim had been denied. They addressed me as Mr. Bryant. Wonder why the claim was denied ? Gotta love them insurance companies.

Isn't it always something When my daughter was born we got denied because they kept spelling her name wrong and they would not pay for her NICU treatment and the birth until we got them to get it right Lets see they spelled it Ray-lee and then it was raleene and then it was rayyleelee and rayliegh we told them how to spell it and after 5 times they got it right raylee. I have all the insurance cards with the misspelled names kept them for some giggles Hopefully it won't take 5 times for you

My oldest child has a problem on his birth certificate. Someone mispelled my DH's first name so now his birth certificate says that his father's name has been corrected. Not the spelling but the name--- makes it seem like I did not know who the father was and changed my mind. It has always ticked me off more than a little.

Since yesterday was also my six-week post-op checkup, and I got the all clear for sex and exercise (aren't those the same thing?) I had fun asking my husband if he could indeed verify I am all woman. :-)
