so bad, it's funny - 'i am NOT a man."

this reminds me of my battle with the insurance after my oldest was born - for several months AFTER he was born they wanted to claim that my pregancy was a pre-existing condition (I got prego about 4 months AFTER we got married and I got on DH insurance) and kept sending me denials for my OB bills until I reminded them that human pregnancies are only 9 months long, they had been paying HIS medical bills (he has Down syndrome and a heart condition so he had lots) and offered to send a dirty diaper to convince them he was real - they stopped sending me letters at that point! And that was just the first of my battles with insurance! I LOVE insurance companies - NOT!!!

Insurance compnies: what a riot. I have had my share of "misunderstandings" with them. My favorite is the ever-popular shuffle between the doctor's office/medical provider and the insurance company about who's responsibility it is to pay for whatever service I've received. The doctor sends the bill to the insurance company, but the insurance company sends it back saying I have to pay. I don't have to pay, which I tell the doctor, and so comes Round 2. This process continues until the insurance company finally gives in and pays. I have had this happen so many times that I am convinced that insurance companies do it in the hope that the patient will get disgusted with the whole sitatuation and pay the bill even when she doesn't have to. One time I had it with the Bill Dance so I wrote a letter to my old insurance company saying, "I know what you're doing and it isn't going to work. I am not paying this no matter how often you evade your responsibility. Hope the doctor doesn't sue you but he sure as &*%# can't sue me." Oddly enough, I never had another problem with the company after that...
