Flagyl - Making Me Feel So Ill

Hello ladies.... I am feeling so ill and could not take my dose of Flagyl tonight. I only have 2 doses left and will be done tomorrow.

I have not had a drop of alcohol with the meds as told not to and I eat well when I take them...eating is actually the only thing that takes my naseau away. I feel like I have morning sickness all day....geez and with this swelly belly its like deja vu turn back the clock 15 years

The first few days on the meds didn't bother me at all - its these last couple and now I just feel ill.

I skipped the dose tonight. I know it is important to take all pills but in this situation do you think it is okay to skip the very last day? I will call the pharma tomorrow.

I am taking them as I had an odour at my 3 week post op check-up. I still smell something similar....perhaps it is just the stitches dissolving. It appears that this odour is quite common. There is not much discharge and I have no fever.

Flagyl - Making Me Feel So Ill

Hi Kathryn,

Flagyl unfortunately has that effect on me too. It's a great medication but the side effect of the nausea is just horrible. I tried many things but nothing helps it even taking anti mausea meds doesn't and liek you said the only time you feel well is when eating.

Take care................Karen

Flagyl - Making Me Feel So Ill

Hi Kathryn,

I too, took Flagyl back in October and it landed me in the emergency room...broke out in a rash all over my body. Nausea was one of the symptoms as well, but not the big one that took me to the hospital. It is supposed to be a great drug, I guess, if you can handle it!

I am so sorry that you are feeling poorly. I was on flagyl preop for two weeks due to a ruptured ovarian cyst. I also had to be on it, and another antibiotic for ten days post op. I could not eat, had horrible diarrhea and developed thrush in my throat. I needed to take iv nausea meds in the hospital and then pills in order to get the flagyl down. My docs would not let me skip the last few days dosages. I felt horrible. It took me two weeks to recover from the meds alone. I also started taking a probiotic to help restore the gi natural bacteria.
I used to gag taking the pills because I knew that taste was going to be so bad. I found putting it in icecream helped.
You are almost done...good luck. I am so sorry you feel so bad...I remember....

Take them all. It is not okay to skip. Flagyl is a strong antibiotic, but very effective.

I'm on flagyl and duricef. I've got one more pill of the duricef and 2 days of the flagyl. I really feel for you, but, it says in the directions to take them all. Take the skipped one right away.

I've been taking acidophilous to help the bowels out with this. Also, tylenol has been my best friend to combat the headache I've had. It sucks, but the alternative is not as attractive. You don't any infection coming back stronger than ever.

I recommend taking them all, on time and not too close together. I always took mine with saltines and never felt sick. Flagyl is not my favorite...I have never had thrush but I got in as a reaction to this drug. But it did work. No infection!

Please be careful with the Flagyl. I took it several years ago for intestinal infection, had I developed an allergy to the Flagyl. It took years for my digestive system to recover. My symptoms were terrible diarrhea, abdominal cramps, rash, swollen joints, hyperventilating. I was a mess. Ended up in the ER!
They switched me to vancomyocin (not sure of spelling). I was told Flagyl is a less expensive drug, so the doc tend to prescribe it first, but does have some nasty side effects.
Take Care!

Thanks ladies....I am going to have some cereal and take my last two doses today. It has given me a terrible rash on my chest and face - I thought antibiotics kept acne at bay?

I will survive the day and things will look brighter tomorrow!

Check into a probiotic supplement. Sometimes side effects develop a few weeks afterwards and this can help build up the good bacteria in your colon. Also, yogurt with active cultures.

Hope you feel better soon. I have 2 days left of it.
