Hospital bill - Oh my!!

I haven't received any bills yet. Maybe they'll forget to bill it and I can save my $1700.00 out of pocket expense to remodel my bathroom!

Hospital bill - Oh my!!

My hospital bill came in at $31,500, the Urogyn was $6000 and not sure what the anesthialogist charges are yet....but DH's insurance cavered all but $1000. It's amazing how they charge....I don't know how those without insurance are expected to pay those charges.

Hospital bill - Oh my!!

I had TVH and rec'd my bill it was almost 20,000 that was just for the surgery. I was in the hospital less then 15 hours. Can't cost too much more right? I also have pretty good insurance. I don't think that I will owe anything when all is said and done.

I have insurance too and I haven't seen a bill yet. I had no idea as to how much a TAH would cost with 3 days stay in the hospital. I had to pay out $300.00 just for the hospital stay. That doesn't include all the pre-op tests that I had to do; those were co-pays.

I just knew it would be expensive. More money than I would ever spend in one setting.

Hospital bill - Oh my!!

My healthcare is with an HMO. I can not believe how vastly different coverage can be from plan to plan and insurance to insurance.

I felt blessed when I had my emergency appendectomy in 2004 because I paid nothing. I can't remember what the "Explanantion of Benefits" said that the cost was.

Well, I had been reading this post and I just got the "Explanantion of Benefits" for my TAH. When all is said and done, it is $16,000. I guess that is because our HMO s do all the surgery so there is no "extra" billing. Anyway, I still find it amazing.

Oh, my out of pocket expenses was $100 on the day of surgery and $21.95 for my tv and phone for 5 days.

I just received the EOB from my insurance on the hospital bill. I was surprised that it took them 3 months to bill. My hospital was $30,770. My surgeon was $5,500 and the assistant was $1,100. The anesthesiologist was $1,100 and the pathology was $450.00. My total out of pocket was $854.00. Thank goodness for insurance

Hospital bill - Oh my!!

I live in Maryland, and am shocked at my bill. I am paying $40K for everything from start to finish. I have a blood test that alone is $1K with insurance. I just am keeping track of all the bills coming in from the insurance co. and then the drs, labs, and the hospital. My hosptial room for 2 nights was $10K.

In the long run, I would much rather deal with the cost than the pain. I have paid the price of suffering wayyyy too long (even if you ask my dh).

Wow, if anyone knows any youg person considering the military as a career, I had my surgery at the Air Force hospital and will never see so much as a statement. No charge for the TV and didn't use the phone. It isn't the life for everyone, but the insurance is good!

My hospital cost. OMGoodness

I reced. the statement from the hospital where I had my TAH. My gyno keeps patients 23 hours after surgery. I had complacations during surgery and complacatons after. Not all problems where because of the surgery but pre-existing on going health problems. Any way I ended staying 4 days. I recd. a basic statement and when I saw the amount I requested a broken down statement because I couldn't believe the cost. Are you all ready for this?!?!?!
$53.291.00. Yes that much. My hubby has the best insurance, and they wrote of 43,087.00 paying the hospital $10,026.60. leaving a balance of $177.40 I have a 2nd. insurance that will more than likely be paid by that. I am so thankful we have insurance and feel so sorry for those who don't. It's almost 8 weeks after surgery and doiing great.
All I can say is heaven help us all.
