Now, I felt the same way when I had my gall bladder surgery in 1990. That hurt me so bad for a good while. When the surgery date got there (after a couple of weeks of doctors trying to find out what was wrong) I asked that they save the gall stones for me and I kept them for several years.

Is it common to have pics taken? I know when they did my D&C the doc sent pics home with my DH. I would love to see what my insides looked like. I think I'll ask next time I call my doc. I did tell him to save some slides .. I wanted to see what the cancer looked like" I have a scientific background and these things interest me...

My doc always takes pics when I have surgery. I have never wanted to keep them, though he's offered. I have seen them.

I don't have a scientific background, but these things interest me anyway as well. :-)

Man!! I wish I had thought of that!!

BTW, your medical records belong to you (technically, the doctor, but copies you can have by law), pictures too, you are allowed a copy of everything. They may charge to copy and you might have to sign papers, but it's all yours. Due to a nurse who was out of her noggin one day, told me I was fine and I wasn't, I get a copy of everything before I take anyone's word for anything.

Again, great idea!

I wanted pictures and forgot to ask. The morning after my surgery, my came to see me. She talked to me about how things went and then got really excited and said she'd be right back. She went and got PICTURES.

I guess she figured with all the knowledge I had from this site, I miust want pictures.

Let me just say, that this uninvited guest that took up residence in my uterus should have had a job and paid rent. IT was HUGE!!!!

My own request! pictures

The morning after the surgery my doctor brought me the photos. It is truly amazing. My dr. said that it went the way she expected except that the pelvic cavity was very small. Therefore the surgery took longer. In one of the photos of the uterus they could not pan back the camera far enough. No wonder I feel lighter. I am going to keep these photos along with the picture of my spine surgery with all the nuts and bolts and the artifical disc.

Happy Valentines Day to everyone.

when I was in recovery my doctor walked over to the waiting area and handed my hubby a picture of my uterus. I was told before surgery that I had 2 fibroids between the walls of my uterus. When they removed my uterus I had about 20 tumors on the outside of my uterus and had too many fibriods on the inside to a point where the lab couldn't count them. I have my picture put away and I pull it out every now and then to stare at it.

Ok now I don't feel so bad. I wanted copies of my pics and got them at my one week post op check up. I thought I must be seriously twisted to want a picture of my uterus but thank you all for making me feel normal. My uterus was full of fibroids and they found out at/after surgery it was also kind of mangled by adenomyosis. It was pretty large too (at least in my estimation) it weighed 742 grams. It is sooooo ugly I cant stop looking at it. It is like meeting someone face to face that has been annoying you for a long time!

Wow!, I really started something here didn't I

I picked up my photos today along with my surgery records from the hospital, I had left my pic's in my room upon discharge and thankfully, housekeeping didn't trash them.

Mine are 4 3x5 color pic's of my entire uterus, tubes and ovaries, intact and laying on a blue draping. I am amazed at how incredible and good that she looked
I must admit though, this is not my first time seeing my female organs, my last baby was concieved invitro so, I have pic's of my ovaries, the eggs that were harvested and my embryos after conception, and of course I will always have my ultrasound videos of my then, "working" uterus as she held my babies
