Vaginal Cramping

Good thread! I wondered if I would still have some cramping. My period has included intestinal cramping and near diarrea, sorry TMI If figured since I still have ovaries and bowels, I'd probably still have some cramping. I think I will find out in the next few days, assuming I'm still on schedule.

Not a problem... If we don't ask, how will we learn... ?? Also I have found having a male gyn. that he just doesn't have a clue to the mental part of us females. He's a great doc, but he will never experience the mental lapses we menopausal women have.

Hello PattieO,

I kept looking for those darned stitches and never saw one. The sutures are sometimes placed on the other side of the vaginal cuff (outside the vagina), so there is a chance you will not even see one. The twinges and pain in that area got better week 4-5. Sometimes gas and a BM would cause painful twinges, at least for me they did.

My gyn/onc must really be confindent in his ability to perform this surgery and my body's ability to heal. I had a two-week follow-up, he said I was cleared for sex and work at four weeks and he would see me in six months. I took six weeks off work (should have taken up to eight, home health care) and waited eight weeks for sex.

I can so sympathize with the waiting ten weeks-plus for sex. We could not have sex months prior to my surgery because of pain and bleeding. Then the wait for healing. We have had sex twice and the difference has been amazing. No pain!! If your husband does not remember you, it sure will be fun to get to know you again!

God bless,

bitterpill

Vaginal cramping

I am 5 weeks post op and still having much cramping, in fact it seems worse over the last week. It feels like I am getting my period and some days are a lot worse than others, just when I have a good day and get a positive attitude I have another bad day. I am starting to feel quite blue and feel like I will never feel "normal again".

smileone, I felt the same way you do week five and was a little discouraged. You are right, just when you have a good day, a bad one comes along. Week three and five for me were the worst. I am nine weeks out and feeling pretty good most of the time. Hopefully soon you will turn that corner and feel more normal than not.

Good luck,

Vaginal Cramping

Hi Missy,
One of the ways I coped during recovery was by doing things I never really had time to do before. I love to dabble in art and watch reruns of old shows to relax but the luxury I enjoyed most was reading an actual book or two or three. As a journalist I read news and studies all day long but I never read things just for fun. My mother once commented upon visiting that my huge book collection contained little fiction and a lot of books relating to my profession.

Prior to my surgery friends and colleagues sent me off with everything from Sudoku books, cross-stitch (I'm clueless on how to do that), puzzles, lotions, socks, books, music, etc. I never did get to everything while I was recovering but I did discover something that has become a new passion of mine...reading. I listen to my favorite instrumental music (not the melancholy stuff) while cuddling up with a novel and escape from the real world for awhile. I finished the first 6 Harry Potter books and began several other books when I wasn't in a Harry Potter mood. The best thing was the escaping into a fantasy world where I forgot about my cramps and lived in a another place outside my blues if only for just an hour or two a day. It's very therapeutic!

I thought I would work on my novel more but found reading less like work.
I hope this helps. Find something you like to do and just do it! 'Hope you're feeling much better soon and if you have to be blue, think turquoise, it's pretty and tranquil.

Vaginal Cramping

I have a question, I don't have vaginal cramping yet (Thank God) but I do have bad lower back pain. Had hysterectomy on Feb 13 and kept ovaries. I know I won't get my period anymore but seems like some of us will feel like we get our periods at that special time each month??????
