Gas, gas, gas, pain, pain

I'm only 6 days post-op, but I am very bloated from the gas. I've been taking walks around the house to try to work it out, but it's still really painful. For me, this is the worst part of the whole procedure. I know everyone is different, but how long does it generally take for the gas to work its way out of your system?

I'm not sure how long it hangs around Sandy. I have heard that laying on your side and drinking warm liquids can help. Also, after my C-Section, the nurse had me get on all fours on the bed and stick my rear end high in the air and my head down.....I can't remember if it worked, lol, but it might be worth a shot if you are really suffering. Do you have GasX? I'm not sure if it helped or not.

Sandydog,
Many of us here have gone thru this after our surgery.
GasX strips work well. Also are you drinking your water?
Have you had your BM yet? This could be causing so much pain too.
Maybe a heating pad on your belly would help move this gas too.
I know that there also will be many sisters who can understand how you
feel with this gas pain. They will have wonderful suggestions too.
I hope that this helps you.....
Hang in there....things will get better honest...

Hi Sandy

Gas-X is a miracle worker if you don't already have some. I don't know if you're taking a stool softener such as miralax or dulcolax, but those help too if you're on a daily regimen. Any juice starting with the letter "p" such as pear, pineapple, prune, etc. helps to get things moving again. It takes a while for your bowels to start working properly after getting poked and pushed, but once they start moving regularly again you should see some relief. It should be any time now. If not, give your doctor a call and they can probably give you some extra help. Feel better and pamper the princess.

I can't tell you how long it hangs around because I believe everyone is different. I know that it took me 4 days just to pass for the first time. I still have days where I feel like I am a balloon in the Macy's parade.

The only thing that helped me was walking. I tried Gas-X and it didn't help me. I know that others have had success with it.

I'll be praying that you get relief because I still know how miserable that can make you feel.

Blessings on you ....
