Brown Discharge

Hi Tweety,
I had that for a few days too. I think it is old blood that was trapped, like a scab or clot, around one the incisions and is finally breaking up and passing. Pretty gross, but I believe it is harmless. It is the bright red that you need to worry about, or anything that looks like puss, ICK! When my infected vaginal cuff was draining, it was just a lot of wetness as far as I could tell. The brown stuff didn't happen until after my exam so I'm guessing it caused something to bleed a little.

Brown Discharge

brown blood is totally normal. If you have any worries, though, call your doctor. Don't be worried to bother him or her...that's what they are there for.

Brown Discharge

Hi Kim , I had the brown/light pink discharge for exactly 5 weeks after my surgery. My doctor had told me to expect this and that it was completely normal. She did say that if I had any bright red blood (which I did at one point) that I should call her. It turned out to be a "popped" stitch from all of the straining from constipation (which was a major issue for me). Anyway, that only lasted a couple of days and I was fine.

Hang in there ! You'll be fine. And remember, you have all of us cheering you on!

s and Blessings, Lisa

Brown Discharge

Hi Tweety,
I developed a foul smelling brownish discharge with itching in my 7th week post-op and knew something was amiss. I was right. I had developed bacterial vaginosis because of my ph being thrown off by surgery. I needed an antibiotic. Don't let this go too far if an odor develops.
