Anyone tried shopping yet?

I haven't left my house yet (except a trip to the ER), and I'm 12, almost 13 days post-op.

Does online shopping count???? haha.

I am HOPING next week I'll get out... Today, I had planned to have my DH drive me to a Starbucks to get coffee, but I changed my mind... I just didn't even feel like it. My mind wants to get out of the house, but my body is still screaming at me to lay low! So, a few more days until I hopefully will get out into civilization!

Anyone tried shopping yet?

Hi ladies - I am 8 weeks post TAHBSO and tonight was the first trip to the market alone for my weekly shopping including 2 cases of water. I did it all myself except had my son carry the bags up the stairs to the kitchen. I carried up some of the bags and put allthe groceries away. I just completed my first full time week back at work and I had a two hour nap this afternoon before I shopped. My body was sore fr om work, and was itching, twinging, etc around the incision and my belly by the time I finished and I haven't been back to the gym so this was my exercise for today. So...bottom line...things get easier little at a time, let your body be your guide and if you can sneak a rest in, do it... before you knowiteveryone will be expecting you to do everything. Be a princess as long as you can...the store will be there in another couple of weeks... - Suzyq

Anyone tried shopping yet?

I went shopping two weeks after and did push the shopping cart which I shouldn't have. I didn't lift or do anything real strenuous but I paid for it! Take it easy. You may feel better and feel like doing bunches of stuff but believe me it's not worth the pain afterwards.

Anyone tried shopping yet?

I do think that after the first couple of weeks I went out a little at a time...a friend would pick me up and we would walk around a small store and eat a quick lunch, or go out for a ride and a coffee...little trips just to get rid of the boredom and give me a place to walk that was more than around my room or around the house. Alittle stroll in the book store, or a couple of items at the market that someone else carried. Sometimes I would think I wanted to go out a bit and then changed my mind and hopped in to bed. YOur body really is tired, it goes thru a lot to get better...speaking of bed...I am getting ready to hit the hay..it has been a long day and my shopping trek made me tired.....have a good night and see you all soon - Suzyq

Anyone tried shopping yet?

I decided that next week, if my husband gets things wrong on the list, I don't care. I am just wiped out. I am a very impatient person and not used to having things for me. I definitely will take the advice and just enjoy laying around for the next few weeks. Hopefully, after my recovery, I won't have to do this again anytime soon.

Anyone tried shopping yet?

I feel unusually blessed, and at the risk of jinxing my recovery, I feel like I can do pretty much anything I want at this point. Last Thurs I drove to the salon and spent over 3 hours there for color, highights, and cut. Today I walked into town to go b-day shopping for my son's girlfriend and was out an about for about 3 hours and over 3 miles of walking. I do still have an occasional twinge, slight spotting, and maybe a dull ache in my belly, but otherwise I am feeling outstanding.

I am a big person (5' 9") and pretty strong, so I guess that might be part of the easy recovery? My main concern is that i don't rest enough and screw something up inside me that I am not even aware of.

Hang in there sister. It does get better, just give it time. In a few weeks you'll forget how exhausted you were. Here's wishing you a peaceful recovery. And give yourself permission to not feel guilty for doing nothing!

I was at the grocery store the night I was released from the hospital - that's where my pharmacy is- I used the cart like a walker and did a few laps around the store while waiting for my prescriptions, my mom did the reaching and lifting I just kinda leaned on the cart and cruised... every day from day one I would go out - just to avoid cabin fever, walk 20 minutes at the mall---flat level and NO ICE!! so it served 2 purposes mobility and sanity...I found I was wiped after the excursions but I think in the long run it was good for me...I am now 6 weeks out, back to the gym (yay me!) and slowly increasing day by day...ain't runnin any marathons but I do a little more each time. I did have some days where I pushed too much but I have learned the signs and I listen and pamper when I should...so...go for little trips but listen to what your body is telling you and you will move forward bit by bit!

Anyone tried shopping yet?

I accompanied my best friend doing her grocery shopping and we went out to eat. By the time I got home I had a very bad lower abdomen ache. Another time I went to the local grocery store with DH and he pushed the cart. Once again I was walking around with the lower abdomen ache. If I go outside and walk down to the horse stable and see the animals I get the lower abdomen ache. I guess it's just going to take me a while to get back to my normal self.
I'm praying for each of you a speedy recovery!
