Hematoma Help

I was pretty much swollen all over, hip to hip and up to my belly button... The lounge pants I had a friend go buy fall straight off now. They are uncomfortable when I adjust the waist to fit. I still can't wear my jeans or anything that does not stretch. It pulls too much.

Hematoma Help

Trish,

Sorry to ask such personal questions, but did your hematoma drain vaginally? Was the drainage red or was it a brownish. Mine is still very red which concerns me. I see the doctor on Thursday and was just going to wait to talk to him but maybe I should call sooner. Thoughts?

Yes I know what you mean. I a swollen all over and the hematoma seems to sit above the swelling. I have only been able to wear night gowns, no pants or panties. Thank goodness I haven't had any spotting since the day after my surgery!

Hematoma Help

I am 4 weeks post op and also developed a Hematoma. The hematoma popped out the day after surgery. Two large pockets just above my incision from a TAH. It was very painful at first and seems to be getting better this past week. My bruising was the length across my stomach from hip to hip and about 4 inches wide and protruded out a few inches. I did have some bleeding start about 2 weeks Post Op that was bright red vaginally. Luckily mine has never drained through the incision. Doctor said to watch closely for fever or drainage and that probably the incision would have to be opened if that happened. So far no drainage. The bruising is getting better and it is more yellow and at the hematoma site still bright purple or maroonish color. Hang in there, I think finally after 4 weeks I am turning the corner. I have stopped bleeding vaginally and the doctor said it could take 2 to 3 months to go away. Best of luck to you.

Hi Brier44! Sorry, I was out of town and just now saw your message. Mine was bright red when it first started and then decreased to a blush color. Hope this helps. Hope all went well with you at your doctor appointment. Please keep us posted!

Hematoma Help

My hematoma was at the incision line. It opened one week after my surgery, for one week twice a day my DH had to pack the opening...when that week was up the Dr determined that it was not healing from the inside out like it should. I went back to surgery and he cleaned the incision area and inserted a drain tube that I had for 4 days. That took care of it...everything healed up beautifully.

The best to you.

Hematoma Help

I had one. It ran from week 3 to week 8. Scared the socks off me when it broke. No smell, no pain, just annoyance.

How many times in your life will you get to live in your nighties? Enjoy it while you can. Real clothes can wait.

Hematoma Help

I had one under the skin, and it was old, dark blood that came out. They told me to let them know if it was bright red, so you might want to ask your doctor about it.

I can say though, after it all drained out, and I started to heal up, it did get better. I rubbed pure vitamin E oil on it starting about nine weeks post-op. I am now at week twelve, and can just barely see a scar, in fact, in some spots I can't even see a scar! I used Jason Vitamin E oil.
