Blood in the urine (hematuria)?

Well, I had a post-op visit today and for the 5th time in one year my urine has had blood in it. My doctor is concerned a little by this. He said it could be as simple as a low-grade infection or as serious as bladder or kidney cancer. I am scared to death. Seems like if it were a low-grade infection, it would have gotten worse with time and I would be symptomatic...

Anyone else have any experience with this scenario?

I also had my blood tested to check hormones...I am worried that my ovaries are failing as I have hot flashes and night sweats. And my emotions are whacked...I actually cried at Bobby Brown's breakdown on Gone Country the other day...haha

I sure hope these results get back soon...I am in agony with worry.

Blood in the urine (hematuria)?

I have had the same problem. It was noted in 2001, I did not go to the MD until 2007 again, and it was noted again x 9 since August. I ended up having a Urogram which is a special CT and a cystoscopy which is a look at the bladder through the urethra. I also had a urine culture and urine cytology where they look for cancer cells. That is a traditional hematuria workup and it was all negative. If you are under 40 without bladder cancer in your family, I would not lose sleep, but ask for urology referral and workup.

Blood in the urine (hematuria)?

Thank you MNRN. Right now all that is in the works is to send my urine off to the lab for cultures. My dr. said that if it comes back further, they do not proceed with further testing. Yes, I am under 40 and am not aware of anyone with bladder cancer in my family...I guess the 'C' word has a way of striking fear in me I suppose.
