CT to rule out abscess?!

Hi sjmb

I'm just curious to know if your doctor prescribed an antibiotic for you to start on while you wait?

CT to rule out abscess?!

I had just finished a 5 day perscription of Flagyl the day before I saw him last Friday (2-15). They way my insurance worked, he couldn't even schedule a CT until 2 days ago (2-20). He told me that if it was really an abcsess, antibiotics wouldn't do much for it. I don't know how to sit still and let my family take care of me. This whole thing is driving me crazy, I just want to be better.

CT to rule out abscess?!

The reason I asked about the antibiotic is that an abscess is an infection and if that's the case you should be on one. You might want to check with your doctor on that. I had an abscess that burst my incision open at 12 days post-op. I was rushed by ambulance to the hospital where I received IV antibiotics and when I was released was sent home with a prescription as well. I know how miserable you feel, and I hope your problem is resolved quickly. In the meantime it's paramount that you rest, rest, rest!!! Take care of yourself and please keep us posted on your progress.

Hang in there- it will get better.
