Stitches --- LAVH, rectocele, TVT and anterior posterior repair ~ help please

I had an LAVH rectocele - TVT and anterior posterior repair on 1/22.

I'm still in a lot of pain - still on pain meds - hard to sit on anything hard - some positions are uncomfortable.

Sex drive is back - had a couple of "manual" O's

But tonight - just went to go pee - have been very "itchy" especially on the urethra area.

Wiped and had a piece of white dental floss looking piece come out - felt around and have a piece of string about 1/2 inch or a bit longer --- but it's connected.

Tugged VERY gently on it --- didn't hurt - but scared to death to pull it out.

I had thought the stitches had already come out... Know NOTHING about them....

Uhm... Could someone please share their stitches experience...

Should I have these types of stitches coming out?

It feels like it's connected to the bottom of the urethra --- and not from inside the vaginal wall... But hell - I really don't know.

So some experiences here would be great.

Thanks much in advance.

Oh - and I've stopped the brownish clear discharge - and have what I think is normal vaginal discharge ---- a bit more than normal - amount wise --- but odor is back to normal --- and no coloration.

I'm sorry you're experiencing this ~ it sounds most disconcerting!

I hope some ladies will be along soon who can relate but, in the meantime, if you'd like to try a "search" (click third from the right on the purple bar, towards the top of this page) you'll find many threads about stitches to read through. Here's a link to one post that possibly sounds similar? https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...light=stitches.

I think you were very wise not to try to pull it out and maybe you could ask your doctor about it?

Sending all good wishes!

Hi I think you are right on schedule I didn't see any stitches or anything until 5-6 weeks post op, at which point all I saw was a couple of pieces of purple thread on the panty liner I was wearing. If they'd have been white, I never would have even seen them.

And, I did notice the discharge was a little brownish during the week or so before that, when the stitches were dissolving - it's due to a little bit of dried blood around the stitches coming out.

If you see any bright red blood, or have any new pain, let your DR know. Otherwise, it sounds like you just have a stitch trying to escape... and I bet pretty soon it will make its exit all on its own.

-Linda
