Burning, tearing sensation in lower left abdomen

Hi.....My burning pain was in my lower left abdomen. I don't think I had any fluid there. I showed DR. before I left hospital, and that's when he told me it was a nerve that probably was entrapped in the facia when he sutured things back. He was right, it did go away, but it took me over 4 weeks for it to disappear. I am sure glad it has, I even wore a pair of jeans tonight for my DGD's softball game. Have you tried taking your pain meds every 4 hours as directed and not wait until pain overtakes you?? I found that when I did that it really helped me. I think that is why DR. prescribed the anaprox for me, it helped with the inflamation which I think is why the nerve was acting up too. I believe anaprox is like the over the counter Naproxin or Aleve. I do pray you do better.

Dolphingal: The ice pack did help me out somewhat. I did have DR. presribe me another kind of pain meds. but not ones that have narcotics in them.
They helped out tremendously. Just know the pain does go away eventually, just try not to do activities that start the burn, is what I found. I hope you have a better evening.

Burning, tearing sensation in lower left abdomen

hope everyone is having a good Easter although I see on the news here there has been some terrible flooding , sorry can't remember the State. Thankfully our heat wave finally ended after 3 weeks and much nicer now. I went out properly for first time today to the zoo. Not sure if I should have. Had a couple of better days, so thought it would be ok. Although I enjoyed the lovely sunshine I had the burning pain most of the time. When I got home I slept for 2 hours which I seem to do after any exertion. Even jusr having visitors. Had physio twice last week. Didn't think it was helping but I think that's why I had the 2 good days. Seeing my gynae again next Wed so interested to see what he says after scan showed fluid in a cavity, have followed his instructions, and just not sure if I am really feeling better or not. Will take it very easy tomorrow. Seem to have some tenderness in upper bowels. Maybe I have too much time alone to think!!!!!!

Burning, tearing sensation in lower left abdomen

Dharma:
Glad you got out ... I think when we are in the house and not interacting with others, our minds tend to dwell on the things going wrong... My surgery was almost a month before yours and I am finally able to get around without too much napping... still get pains though... We have had flooding in several states although the middle of the country seems to be taking the brunt of it. This has been a record year for snowfall and that combined with all the rain is what is causing the problems... Glad to hear your heat wave finally broke.. I have always wanted to come to Australia.. hopefully some day.

You are so right just too much time to think ..Aust is beautiful...but then I have always wanted to go to USA. Having my 1st overseas holiday at nd of May to UK and Italy (if you don't count Ba'i, which is pretty close to us so didn't seem like a big trip) I am also worried I won't be well enough for my trip!!!!!!! Silly really.

Burning, tearing sensation in lower left abdomen

Hello, well I am not sure if my pain is different but sure sounds like it. I only have my right ovary left so that I wont need HRT. But every day usually worse in mornings and nights, there is a sharp pain in my right side that feels like pulling and a strong tingling sensation. I havent seen my doc yet, I take a couple aleves and sometimes a tylenol with codine twice. I am hoping that its just due to my ovary just sitting there alone with no other parts to support it I dont know. I hope it goes away soon or I will be trying to get in earlier with the doctor. Good Luck Ladies!!

Burning, tearing sensation in lower left abdomen

Hi well it's Easter Sunday andI have to confess have been in bed all day mostly sleeping and it,s now after 1pm. Must really have overdone the walking around the zoo. I had a chance to read a lot of different posts here on this site when i couldn't sleep last night. I think I have been expecting too much in regard to being pain free. And it has also pointed out to me it's o.k. to just rest if I'm having an off day, it's just that iy seems I am always resting. Being Easter is also harder as so many people have gone away it is so quiet. Once I see my gynae on Wed I am going to ask if I can start driving, just short distances as I am sick of feeling like an invalid and relying on others to get me food etc. Sounds like a lot of you have had your ops quite some time before me and still have some pain so I will try to take heart in that and be patient.

cheers to you all
Vicki

Burning, tearing sensation in lower left abdomen

Hi Vicki,
I have been spending all my recovery time on the couch, lol. I have been out driving since my 3rd week out. I just only drove short distances, but it was still some time off the couch. I go back to work the 29th, I am not looking forward to it at all. I wish I had more time, but on the bright side, I am not that much in pain now. I don't have the burning pain at all now, for which I am grateful!!!! The sleep issue is still ongoing, but I hope it goes away soon, lol I have to get up early for work. I hope you have a peaceful Easter.

Burning, tearing sensation in lower left abdomen

Hi Wanda...glad to hear I'm not the only one lying around....lol. I quit my job with the Fed Govt after 5 years...the hyster was a good excuse as I had been feeling unhappy with the way things were going. I am going to recover from this and then have my month holiday in UK and Italy then starting nursing in July. So in some ways it has helped me make my transition I knew I wanted, but just didn't know how.

Can you tell me how you get the bit on the bottom of your message that says what you had done, your history etc..???

I am so used to staying up late and sleeping in, I can imagine how hard it is going to be for you to go back to work. My rest day has been going ok and was starting to feel less pain this afternoon, however, first of all my indoor cat, (a Burmese) bit me, very hard...and I ended up crying (hormones again???) then I went next door to feed the 4 month old kitten for my neighbour who is away over Easter and accidently let her out the back. She was so fast and loves to climb or run away, so I was trying to get her, when I feel a pain, and yep, the burning pain came back. I felt so cross. I came back home and am in bed again after taking some pain killers. Actually I do think the pain overall is getting a bit better, even the burning, so am trying to be cautiously optomistic, and see what gynae says on Wed. I hope your job isn't too strenous....

Cheers
Vicki

Burning, tearing sensation in lower left abdomen

Hi Vicki...
lol, I envy you with a month long holiday!!! and going to Italy and Uk on top of that!!!! I used to have a burmese cat also(bearkitty)but he ran away after we moved to a new home. He used to bite everyone but me, lol. I am sorry about the pain coming back after chasing the kitty. Unfornately my job is a strenous one.... I am an assistant meat manager at a grocery store. Lol maybe I can have the guys do the lifting????

I went to the top of the page and clicked on my control panel button on top right of this page, then i went to edit my signature on the left side of the page when the next page comes up. That is where you put all the stuff on the bottom of your replies and then hit preview to make sure that is what you want then hit save.

Wanda:
I told my boss that I wouldn't be able to lift things for a while, and he said no problem, we'll just get someone else to do it... Perhaps when you get your final post op, your "return to work" slip can say normal work as tolerated... that gives you an out if you are not up to everything... Best wishes ...
