When is it safe to lie on my side in bed?

i was sleeping on my side the night after!!
at the hospital i had a warm blanket pushed up under my belly and since i've been home, i use my body pillow tucked between my belly and the bed (at least i fall asleep with it there)

When is it safe to lie on my side in bed?

I used a bed pillow right beside me as I lay on my back, placed a small "belly pillow"between me and the bed pillow right at belly level and then rolled against the two pillows. The big pillow kept the small pillow from shifting and the small pillow kept the swelly belly from sagging to the bottom. I also placed a bed pillow between my knees to support the upper leg and reduce pressure in my lower abdomen.

You can't have too many pillows to help you through this recovery process. Eventually you need less but I started with seven!!!

Hope this makes sense.

Good luck and sweet dreams!

When is it safe to lie on my side in bed?

I was finally able to sleep on my side at 9 days post op. I put two pillows under my head and another under my legs and that seemed to work.

When is it safe to lie on my side in bed?

Hang in there ladies, it does happen. I am 9 weeks post op and sleeping on my sides, and sometimes even rolling to my stomach. Stomach sleeping still feels a little weird though. Insomnia is a little better.
So it all comes in time...I guess?!

When is it safe to lie on my side in bed?

I've used a body pillow for years, it's been a big help. I've been sleeping on my side since day 2 (I'm a side sleeper). Also, I've been wearing my belly band since the surgery, even when sleeping, helps me feel more secure when I have to roll over. Just the past couple of nights I've taken it off once I got into bed because it felt more comfortable, but I wear it all day (I'm in my 3rd week post-op) and maybe I feel more of a need for it because I've been cut there 4 times. This was the first time I had glue, it's been wonderful to NOT have staples and external stiches - DEFINITELY helps with the discomfort.
