17 days post op trouble painful going to bathroom.

Thank you for all of your help and support.

I was just wondering if anyone has experienced pain after 17 days post op going to the restroom. I have a hard timeand pain pushing or applying any pressure. Also, when I pee sometimes it only dribbles out. It feels like a UTI but then it seems to go away. I am not sure if this is normal. I am still very sore. I had a TAH and kept my ovaries. (They had to take my Cervix too because they could not get it to stop bleeding and I was really close in getting a blood transfusion). I am not sure if that would have anything to with it either.

Any comments or suggestions would be so helpful. Should I contact Dr in the morning?

Hi Gina,
I would call the DR. As mine put it when he sent me home from the hospital, "if it bothers you...it bothers me." Make the call! Best Wishes!!

I'm so sorry -- I know this is really miserable! Call the doctor, and have them get you a urinalysis to see if it's a UTI. If you don't have it already, ask them about pyridium -- it turns your pee orange, but really helps with the pain.

When I have trouble getting something out, I turn on the tap water warm and let my hand rest under it. My visiting nurse also said to make especially sure to drink a lot -- it was scary for me as I wasn't sure it was going to come out, but it's important to flush whatever bacteria might be in there out. All natural cranberry juice also seemed to help, and my nurse also recommended cranberry capsules 2xday, which you can get at most drug stores or health food stores.

Don't worry, it will pass!

Take good care of yourself,

I had a TVT - and man - I can tell you - it's changed the muscles that I use to pee - I'm getting used to it - but for the first two weeks it was like a giant gas bubble had to be pushed out before I could pee.

Now I feel like I'm always pushing down - sigh...

But it has gotten better - for me - if that is any consolation.

You didn't say whether you had a cystocele or rectocele or bladder sling.
