Hi Ladies,

I'm back to work tomorrow which will be nice but I'll be very tired for the first while getting up at 5:30 am again. My biggest fear is that I'll swell up like a balloon and get real sore again. I'm going to wear my girdle panties for the first few days just for a little extra support.

My belly is still somewhat swelly and pretty tender, feels like the muscle tone is just not there anymore. I've been doing some very light toning excersizes like the checkpoint list sugests every day. I still can't get any of my jeans on and am thinking about buying a few pairs a size larger than usuall for work, just so I dont have to look like yoga girl all the time. I havent tried any intimate activities yet, not from lack of desire believe me, it's just that I still feel kinda swollen inside and don't want my first experience to be a painfull one. I'll give that particular check point activity another week or so I think.

Other than that I really feel a whole lot better every day now. I do have more energy again and I have much better range of motion. I can even get into my bed now without the help of the kitchen stool. ( we have a very tall bed, comes up to my waist ) In general I feel more like myself now and less awkward every day.

Hi ** Hi **, its off to work I go......I'll check in tomorrow after work to see how all the lovely ladies are feeling.

Wishing you all a restfull Sunday,

6 weeks and counting

Hi, well Feb. 25th at 7:00 I went into the hospital, and at 9:00 I had my surgery(LAVH.) It lasted over 3 hours. I woke up in alot of pain, and had a very bad headache. The second day is still a blur. The pain pump really didn't do alot for me. When they gave me percocet, I just threw that up, so I went without anything for pain. I do not recommend that way for anyone, but everything I tried made me sick. I guess most doctors clean you out after they are done, but oh not me. I was under to long so they just left all that yuk in me. On the 3rd day when I got up to use the bathroom, well let's just say it was a mess. No one had told me that they left all that stuff in there so I freaked out when I started bleeding. I came home 3 days later and camped out on the couch for 3 weeks. My room is upstairs, so I stayed downstairs for a while. Tomorrow will be 6 weeks for me and also the day I try to go back to work part time. I am stiil bledding a little, and have weird pain in weird places. My baldder does weird things and I lost 17 pounds. I only weigh 107 now. What a hard way to lose weight. Anyway I think I am slowly getting better, and I will just have to see if I can handle work. I wish you all well in your recovery.
Take Care, God Bless,

Hello all!
I went back to work (I teach) last Monday (5 weeks) - the worse thing was having to set the alarm clock! I was tired when I got to school but gained energy during the day and was not nearly as tired as I thought I would be at the end of the day. I can still "feel" a slight pull now and then, but for the most part feel back to normal. I go for my 6 weeks check up on Tues and hope to be released for everything - especially sex! haha! This website has been more than wonderful pre op and post op - I felt so prepared during the whole situation - only you others truly understand. I hope I can lead others to this site. THANK YOU so much to all who have contributed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best wishes to all of you as you return to work this week!

Irishcharm1 - here's a hug I think you could do with it.

You had your surgery the same day as me. You poor thing. I felt so sick after the anaesthetic that I couldn't move, but at least when they put up some drip or other I began to feel better and could keep my meds down. What did they leave inside of you? I wasn't quite sure what you meant.

I too am still feeling a lot of pain, which is really getting me down. It is the same dragging, achey pain in my back, pelvis and legs that I had before the op, which is doing my head in. The only thing that relieves it is reclining/lying down, which is slowly turning me into a blob. Just over a year ago I was exercising five times a week. Slowly that lessened into nothing because of the pain. Now I can walk into school and back from the car and that's about it, and do the shopping (with help!).

I discharged my first stitch today, but am still getting a small amount of beige discharge which is sometimes a salmony colour, so not sure whether to chance the swimming pool, despite it saying on my info I could swim from four weeks. I'm worried about infection if all isn't quite healed. I certainly won't be resuming anything in the intimacy department, despite rampant hormones!

It's great to hear about all you ladies resuming your lives. It keeps the hope alive in me!

Best wishes.

Good morning Ladies,
It sounds like everyone had a pretty good weekend, and that we are all making good progress in our recoveries. I have my 6 week check up Tuesday, but I think I need to call the Dr. today as I have developed a sharp pain in my left side this weekend. I am sure hoping that it is not a bladder infection. My husband is still being very protective of me and doing more than his fair share around the house. I feel guilty sometimes, but he tells me to just rest and get better.

Here is to a great recovery week!

Karen, congratulations on your anniversary. Wonderful job!

Yeah, life's getting pretty much back to normal - with added caution, of course. I'm grateful cause I tend to get lightheaded if I do too much - a good thing. I need those gentle reminders sometimes.

This weekend, though, I had a mid back issue that was making me crazy. I don't think it's at all related to my surgery, but maybe just because I'm doing more, moving more. I had this kind of a thing back before Christmas - sort of like a pinched nerve that gets set off with certain motions - common motions, unfortunately.

Thankfully the hot tub has the doctor's approval cause that seemed to be the best medicine. I might need it again today!!!

Hi Diane,

I have the same problems with my back but I know it is because I am now out of shape, especially with the tummy muscles that work to support my back...but was out walking for 1 hour today and know that eventually the strength will come back...

Sounds like everyone is on the mend...better days ahead ladies...we are just starting to get a taste of them!
