Do fibroids go away on their own?

I have a question about fibroids, do they go away on their own? the first gyn I saw when my post menopause bleeding started the tests he did showed that I had a Fibroid, it was not on the outside of my uterine wall but in between my uterus and uterine wall. Which was another out of many reasons I went to a different gyn because I was told that because of where it was surgery would mostly likely have to be done by others. But no response from the gyn, from the tests results sent to my reg. doc.

I haven't mentioned this in my intro or other posts because until reading this I actually forgot about it, becaue it wasn't listed on the copy of what was going to be removed and repaired during my TVH.

Or maybe it wasn't because my uterus was coming out and the firbroid would be with it. Huh?

Do fibroids go away on their own?

As I understand it, fibroids can/do shrink when they lose their estrogen supply ~ mine shrank when I took Lupron (a drug to induce menopause) prior to surgery.

So, if you'd already been through menopause before your hysterectomy, then it's more than possible that your fibroid had faded away or maybe it just wasn't mentioned in your papers ~ or both!

Do fibroids go away on their own?

My fibroid was like yours - "intramural" or within the wall. And almost 2 lbs to boot.

My ovaries will still active, so I can't see it having ever gone away on its own.

As pooodle said, if you have gone thru menopause or been on a med that cuts down your estrogen, maybe it has shrunk. But if they are removing a fibroid in the wall, the uterus is going with it.
