7 days post-op with alot of questions ~ help?

Hi Charlize,

I also had LOTS of pain right after surgery. I remember laying in my bed moaning to the nurse telling her my pain was a 10 (10 being the highest), and for her to help me. It took a little bit for them to regulate it. But, once it was regulated by the morpheine pump, I was doing much better.

As for the canker sores, try swishing and gargling saltwater. It'll taste really gross, but if you do this a few times a day, you might notice they will go away. I don't get them very often, but have gotten them before, and I was told to swish and gargle salt water, and it totally helped them go away. But, I do think canker sores are stress induced, and also possibly a reaction to antibiotics, and other things like some of the ladies mentioned above.

As for poop.... that is a normal topic around here! I have never talked about my BMs more in public than I have here. HAHA!! I figure if someone who actually KNOWS me is lurking here, OH WELL.... they now know way more about me than they wish they would have known! HAHA! But, if we didn't talk about these personal things, how would we know it is normal for after a hyster, and how would we know that we weren't the only person who was experiencing this. It's so nice for me to know that most of the women here have the same poop issues as me!! haha!!

Take care!

Thanks again

I am so glad you guys all replied, I kind of feel my Dr. wasn't
very informational on any of this. He also told me that there are some women who go back to work after a week, so it was nice to hear that I can take my time to heal. Thanks again

7 days post-op with alot of questions ~ help?

Hi
I had an abdominal, but when we were discussing a laparascopic my doc said that was a 4-6 week recovery. I think some women do go back to work early, but often that is because they absolutely have to--can't afford to lose the job. Doesn't mean they were physically ready or wanted to.
And everyone heals at a different rate.
If you haven't read the pieces in the post-op section on what to do and adhesions (why its important not to overdo) I encourage you to. I found them really useful.

Hi Charlize,

The poop problem may be from all the meds and the narcotics and such. I was pretty DARN nauseated for the whole couple weeks or so afterward. A lot of the "weirdness" is due to leftover drugs in your system, pain killers, etc. Also, I was told that the intestines run right past where things are taken out, so they get a little upset when there is "trouble in the neighborhood" so to speak.

Good luck! You are in the toughest part of the whole deal right now. I was crying my head off right about now!
