Yellowish colored discharge and urine odor?

Hello ladies,

I am a little embarrassed to ask this question, but I HAVE to know if this is normal.

This coming Friday will be 1 month post-op for me.

I've been wearing pantyliner's since my surgery. The first couple of weeks I did have this yellowish discharge. I was assuming it was normal because I thought I read that somewhere on the forum. Anyway, for the past few days, maybe even longer (my mind isn't what it used to be) I've been having the yellowish, maybe beige colored discharge, but this time the pantyliner's seem to be wetter, more like it's leaky urine or something like that. Anyway, I also noticed this horrible ammonia smell coming from the pantyliner. What could this be? And if you advise me to call the doctor should I call my GP doctor or my ob/gyn?

Yellowish colored discharge and urine odor?

I was just in for my two week post-op today. I told Dr that yesterday I had a thicker, yellowish discharge and he said it is the stitches starting to dissolve. My discharge has no smell though and my only suggestion to you would be to ask your Dr if that ammonia odor could be a sign of a yeast infection. I had one once or twice and the odor was decidedly "fishy" and nasty. Also had some itching with that.

I would definitely ask, don't wait. A yeast infection won't necessarily clear up on its own, and if it is just dissolving stitches, it will put your mind at ease.

As far as which Dr...gyno or surgeon would be my suggestion.

Hope this helps.

Yellowish colored discharge and urine odor?

If it is starts getting stronger and ends up smelling's a vaginal bacterial infection, which I just went to the doctor for yesterday. They gave me a one day vaginal cream, Clindesse, that should clear it up. So just keep an eye on it. Over the counter yeast creams will not cure a bacterial infection. So if it gets worse, call your gyn. Good luck to you.

Yellowish colored discharge and urine odor?

I had my hyst in June 2007 and I still have a yellow discharge that sometimes smells like that. First it was a bacterial infection and now I don't know what it is. The doctors have ran test on it and also on my urine and No bacteria is currently present. My doctors just keep telling me to drink more water. I drink water all day long and it has still not changed the having to wear panti liners everyday. I going to start taking a probiotic called Fem-Dophilus and see if it makes it go away. I don't really know what else to do.

Yellowish colored discharge and urine odor?

My DR told me I may have this discharge and odor. He said it was the stitches dissolving and odor is normal. He also said some experience it for up to 45 days.

Yellowish colored discharge and urine odor?

Hi SassyCat Because you mentioned an ammonia odor, I suggest you call the DR who did your surgery and tell them about it. It could be normal, but the way you describe the odor and increasing wetness I would be worried that you may have a small fistula. Your DR may refer you to a urogynecologist to check this out if he/she feels that's what it might be.

Let's hope it's normal or something relatively minor , but do get it checked out, OK? And please let us know what you find out.

Yellowish colored discharge and urine odor?

oh geesh!, I have the exact same thing going on.... I tend to actually leak anywhere from 1 -3 x a day/night, discharge is wet and strong odor!
last I asked the doc, after my 2 week appt. he said it was fluid draining from surgery.

I also have vaginal stitches and wonder if they would cause the leaking and stench as they dissolve.... hmm... guess we all kinda stink eh? (lol)

Yellowish colored discharge and urine odor?

I also have this yellow discharge. Have had it since my LAVH (am 5 weeks post op tomorrow). My doctor told me at my 3 week appt this is normal, that it might have a little odor to it and could last 45-50 days. However in the last week the volume and wetness have increased as has the's horrible!! Sorry! In addition I'm also having the same discharge rectally. I have had to go back to wearing a large pad to 'catch' it all. Very depressing. I am being seen today by my doctor. Hopefully will get some answers. I am hoping it's just an infection and not a fistula...been reading on this site about that and really hope I am not looking at another surgery and 6 weeks of recovery.

Yellowish colored discharge and urine odor?

So sorry to hear you ladies are going through this. I guess I was really blessed because I had no drainage or anything like that after my surgery. I would suggest that you go to the Dr. as well to have it checked out. I haven't worn a pantyliner or pad since the day that I left the hospital.

Yellowish colored discharge and urine odor?

I just now did a search on a fistula, so now it is really scaring me.

Would I be able to feel the urine leaking? I don't feel it leaking at all and it isn't a lot of wetness, but there is wetness. I also have these strange, almost prickly feelings around my lower stomach area on the sides.

And here I thought I was doing so well with my recovery
