I was suppose to have three - 1 week (staples-removal), 2 weeks (go over pathology reports) and 6 weeks post-op. As luck would have it, when I went in to get my staples removed yesterday, the pathology report came in also, so now I will see him 5 weeks from now. I cancelled the one I was to have with him next week - didn't need to see him! Saved me money on another co-pay! (bummer that my insurance doesn't do global billing...)

I had a LSH and only had one post op with the surgeon at 3 weeks. OUCH, he did a pelvic and said everything was great and I could have sex. I think not as I was still bleeding and in pain. I saw my regular GYN at 6 weeks because I didn't trust the surgeon and I was still bleeding but everything was ok.

I'll have two. A 4 week (where he THINKS he's releasing me for work - I told him I want 6 weeks), and another at 6 or 8 weeks (don't have the specific date yet - he'll tell me at the 4 wk when to come back).
I didn't have a 1 or 2 week because I have no external stitches and no staples. I'm "superglued" (Dermabond) on the outside - it acts as both closure and dressing.

I was supposed to have 3 - 1 week for staple removal, 2 week to check incision and 6 weeks to clear me to go back to work.

I actually had my staples removed in the hospital. My 2 week was actually 18 days out (to divorce Mr. Foley Catheter and check incision). My 6 week was actually about 5 1/2 weeks. I was told when I could return to work.

Very interesting. Just like each recovery is different, it seems like the schedule of visits to the doctor is different too.

Thanks ladies for all of the input.

Once again, I think this depends on the type of surgery, and if we have complications or not... Most of us go at about 1 - 2 weeks to have staples, or stitches taken out and then again when we are released to go back to work.
JCT79:
You may not see stitches... I was told by my dr's office that perhaps the stitches on vaginal cuff were on the outside of vagina... therefore I would never see them..

I had a 2 week appointment with my Dr. and then a 6 week appointment. The Dr. that performed my surgery is not my primary care physician, she was referred by my GYN so I also got checked again by my Primary care physician in December who checked my incision and everything to make sure I was healing normally. She also told me that 6 months to a year before everything would be back to normal.

I have one at 6 weeks and that's it unless there are complications. (My doc saw me three days in a row at the hospital--I wonder if the folks who have a 2 week appointment left the hospital earlier?)
