The worst part of recovery

My main issue has been with the a/p repairs done - I feel like I did after childbirth with episiotimes. I'm at day 10 now and it's been the last 2 days that my incision feels inflamed and sore. I don't know if it's from wearing pads nonstop because this happened to me after babies, so I checked with my dr. and trotted down to the drugstore and bought Tucks and Dermoplast. Getting some relief but it hurts to sit. Also have a donut, which helps. I didn't have to be on pain meds except for ibuprofen, so fortunately didn't have gas or bm issues but have experienced bladder spasms (lovely). They seem to be getting less and less - it's just the soreness now that's a pain.

The worst part of recovery

I am at the end of day 4. My surgery was outpatient so I was lucky enough to arrive at the hospital at 8am and be home in my own bed by 3pm. In spite of "textbook" surgery - it was minimal in length, little blood loss, and an aenesthatist (sp?) who was a magician, I am suffering the gas pain with some constipation that everyone here talks about. I was on Vicodan for 2 days and I took the last one 2 days ago - but today is the worst day for gas!! I have been fairly active (hopefully not too active) and walking up and down the halls and driveway, but OH MY GAWD, the pain rips through me like a knife making its way from my stomach right into my rectum. OUCH!! I tried some of the suggestions on this thread and I hope that tomorrow is better.

My solice is found in reading from those who say "it will get better"!!

Here's to you all and may we all break wind big time!!

The worst part of recovery

Definitely the pain of the sphincteroplasty!!!!! The ups and downs that the pain and the pain meds bring are very frustrating, as well. It also seems now that I go through some kind of Percocet hot flash about 30 minutes after I take it.

Oh, and one more thing......I hate complaining about everything!!!! :-)

The worst part of recovery

I would have to say the gas pains which have finally gone away. & then 2nd would have to be the numbness pain around my belly incision. But hoping after all is said & done that all my previous pain will be gone that this will be just a memory.

The worst part is the gas - the rumlblings but nothing happening - my sister suggested camomile tea which does help a bit. The gas makes the swelled belly all the more uncomfortable and eating is limited. I feel like a balloon ready to pop.
