Wearing Jeans

Hi everyone! Hope your recoveries are doing well!

This is kinda of a silly question, but I had my TAH eleven days ago, and I'm getting tired of wearing either my pjs or loose sweats. I miss my jeans! When were some of you able to start wearing your jeans again?

It was about three weeks before I could fit into my jeans but after about the eighth day I could wear my jean overalls with the side buttons left undone. They were actually the most comfortable thing to wear because there was no pressure or binding at the abdomen or waist.

Hi tonks,
Still can't wear mine due to swelly belly at 6 weeks. Can't get the button fastened without pinching. I bought one pair a size larger with a lower fit on waist and wear those comfortably. Some have posted it can take up to 6 months or longer to wear pre-surg clothes...I hope that isn't the norm!!

I was about 17 days post op when I wore jeans for the first time. They were a little on the loose side. When I sat down, I made sure the folds of fabric weren't pressing on the incision. I didn't have any comfort issues like I thought I would.

I could get my jeans on probably 2 or 3 weeks after my surgery but I still don't find them comfy. They aren't bad if I'm wearing them earlier in the day but in the evening they still get tight when my tummy swells a bit. This is even with me losing about 7 pounds after surgery while home recovering.

Wearing Jeans

Hi everyone,

I am at 3wks and a day and I can't even think about putting on my jeans without grimacing. My belly is so sore to the touch from the belly button down to the incision that even a nightgown makes it feel worse when I'm walking around the house. I feel like they stretched my skin to it limits while they where doing the surgery.

I can only dream of wearing jeans, LOL

I agree totally with missing wearing jeans. I just said it the other day to my DH. I am not used to wearing lounge pants outside of bed so I feel like I am running around in my jammies all the time even though I am just wearing elasticized pants. My incision is still sensitive so I am trying hard to give myself a bit more healing time before I try jeans. Heck, I am not even wearing underwear most of the time!! Jeans? Who am I kidding?!?

I was able to wear my jeans at 5 weeks but could only handle them for a couple of hours took them off and haven't tried since. They put to much pressure on my incision.

I probably could have worn my jeans immediately, but I had an 18 day marriage to Mr. Foley Catheter. Once we were divorced, I was able to wear my jeans. But I could wear just about anything. I actually have lost 35 lbs in the last 7 weeks.
