I, too, am waiting for the other shoe to drop. I was up and on the go from the first day home from the hospital. Very little pain, no meds. My Dr. told me I could drive when ever I felt up to it, so have been driving right along. Today is day 15, so I'm hoping I just got really lucky & have no adverse symptoms. I got all my pathology back and that was all good too. Maybe I should go to the casino, I'm feeling so lucky! I'm just sorry everyone is not doing as well as I am. I actually didn't post for a long time because everything is going so well, I didn't want to make anyone else feel bad! I just got back from "the girls' night out" with some friends. I only stayed about a half-hour & had one drink, but it was good to see everyone. I hope anyone who is not doing as well will feel better soon!

Hi ladies! Had my LAVH on 3/4 - doing pretty well now - have no recall of that day - DH says that is good! Apparently I talked to friends on the phone?? 3/5 was a nausea day- awful but finally got that undercontrol and could eat and pee and came home 3/6 - Yay! Only on tylenol! Felt great - too good - think I over did and got more bleeding and then bad gastro-intestinal stuff one week pot-op . Had low grade fever for three days and swelling of vulva area - anybody else get that? Like a hard little pea down there,, Went to the Dr. She said it might be bruising and no infection or antibiotics , just to be cautious , watch for signs of infection and take my ibuprophen - I was of course feeling much better by the time I could see her Have figured out I need to go slower and not bend down to pick things up at all - definitely increases bleeding - which is typically light. Maybe this is too much info. Thanks ladies for all the good info ahead of time . It has really helped. I am trying to enjoy the time to read and pray and be a lady of leisure- I know it won't happen again for along time. Oh, my pahology report was clean - unchanged from the primary complex hyperplasia with atypia. I am so thankful Hope all of you are continuing to feel better!!

Hello, ladies. Today is 15 days post-op and I am feeling pretty good. Went to the Dr on monday 3/17 and got the okay to drive, Yeah!! Still need to take it easy though. He confirmed that a little spotting is your body telling you that you are doing too much, so take it easy. He wants to do a bladder suspension next, but I am not ready for that. I don't want another surgery right now, this healing is for the birds. Went walking this morning with the DH and my doggie Hurt a little after so I am just taking it easy the rest of the day.
I am having those night sweats too. Never had those before, don't like them either. I forgot to ask the Dr what those are all about.
Well hugs to all

Day 16 post op

Felt really good today. I went to the movies with a friend and just relaxed sitting outside on my patio reading. Its so nice to be able to enjoy the first day of spring with no pain like before surgery.

I was concerned about not being able to enjoy the big O like before surgery but me and hubby had "outside sex" last night and it worked just great actually much better than before because no more pain! My sex drive seems to be much stronger now than before surgery I hope that continues.
I hope this is not but I was very worried about whether or not I would have difficulty in the sex department but so far

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Hi Ladies, I had my two week appointment yesterday. It went well, I just wanted to hug my Dr. (of course I didnt, dont want him to put a retraining order on me...lol). I did shake his hand and tell him thank you for taking good care of me. I didnt feel to great tonight just needed to rest. Dh wanted to take me to dinner but ended up staying home. I have been working just a little each day, and caring for my kids, still trying to milk it for all its worth. When I get up and do things my family gets the wrong idea and they think Im ready to go, they dont realize its a day at a time. My friends and neighbors are the best! My neighbor brought me a gift certificate today for a pedicure, along with some lotions and such, she already brought us a dinner, yesterday my neighbor across the street called and said I am bringing you dinner what time can I come, she would not take no for an answer. It brings tears to my eyes that their are such good people in the world. Im not bragging, I just want to share how good and sweet people can be. Still no signs of menopause here, so keeping my fingers crossed.
Dr. said I could resume light exercise so I guess no more excuses. I hope you all have a nice Easter weekend, and enjoy some good spring weather. Happy healing, hugs for all.

I had a pretty good day yesterday. I didn't go anywhere but was active at home. I stamped for a couple of hours, and wrote some thank-you notes to people who sent me gifts. I went for a 10 minute walk in the neighborhood, it was chilly but sunny and it felt good to get some fresh air. Then I picked up some sticks in the front yard that had fallen from the recent storms. I trekked thru the soggy back yard to my herb garden and pulled some dead things out and noticed my Italian parsley is coming back and some of my rosemary survived the winter!!

I am having a bit of pain in my incision, near the bottom. It is hard and thick and quite pink, and where my skin folds over it is sticky and has an odor. Last night I cleaned it very carefully and dried the area with a cool blow dryer. I slept on my back all night and though I haven't checked it this morning I am hoping it stayed dry. I got kinda depressed about it and cried some last night b/c that area is so ugly and deformed now, much worse than it was before the surgery. I am hoping that after I heal I can get some scar therapy that will soften it.

Post-op day 11: I am taking the dog to the groomer, doing some things around the house again, and getting ready to go out of town tomorrow. I will likely stamp some more, I am finding that being home I have the luxury of stamping for pleasure and my creativity is beginning to flow again. It's wonderful! But I have a class in four weeks to prepare for and have to start working on our taxes next week. If I can get the class projects worked out I am sure I will find time to free stamp.

Today it's supposed to be sunny and 61 degrees. Maybe my daffodills will bloom!

Wishing all of you a great day and good healing.

progress 2 weeks

Well I made it to the 2 week mark. I am still in pain but I think the swelling is getting better. It seems to hurt more at night. Probably because food and walking put pressure on the area. I had my check up yesterday and the nurse practitioner said my vitamin D levels were really low. Something about not having enough vitamin D causes your body not to absorb the proper amounts of calcium. Anyway I was not in best form yesterday and was kind of cranky. She is such a sweetheart and I didn't even feel like talking. She asked me how I was doing and I told her fine. She asked me again and I said the same. I told her that no matter what I was going to tell her I was fine. Besides fine could stand for Fouled up, Insecure, neurotic and emotionally unstable. So either way I was fine. The pain was the same so I didn't feel like elaborating. The good news is I told her I was returning to work on Tuesday. She didn't argue with me but she did tell me I needed to see the doctor since he would be back from vacation. Funny how that works. She wanted me to see him Tuesday after work so he would make me take the rest of the week off. My appointment in on Thursday so that didn't work. I promise to make it a light week. I am going to let the students do make up work on Tuesday. Many of them did not complete their work. For those of you who are teachers, you know what I mean. The students just don't perform as well when we aren't there. This way the will have a chance to make up their grades. Then it will be a quick review of waves and the moon cycle. So I just don't see how I can miss. But they are good kids and when they see the ice pack they will actually make me behave especially if I tell them it is that or another sub. Funny thing though somebody told them I had a tummy tuck. I did not want to explain to 8th graders about a hysterectomy.
I know I have rattled on but I needed to vent a little. I am going to ride and get my DD an Easter basket. I know she is a little old for one (18) but I think I need an excuse to steal the chocholate bunny. I feel like biting the head off somebody so I figure at least the bunny will taste good.
Oh yeah it is a beautiful morning and I am sure a great "good friday" I am going to be more positive today. I think my lack of hormones is kicking in or house arrest is getting to me. But if I want to work, I need to be good this weekend. Sorry this has not been one of my more positive ones but again thanks for letting me vent.

Today is day 17 postop. I am feeling good. I am not a big fan of the night sweats/cold chills, and tossing and turning all night, but I am managing. I still am having some bladder spasms, but tolerable. I feel some pressure when I sit and walk, and its uncomfortable. I am just hoping all this passes. I am still taking it very easy per dr. My bleeding has finally stopped & I have occasional spotting. My diarrhea has gotten better, I've been taking probiotics, and seems to be helping. I am still on iron pills. I feel that I am doing really well, since I had everything taken, and not on any hormones. I am glad to hear how everyone is doing, and wishing you a quick and easy recovery as well.

Good Friday

Well, I didn't get to go work out in the pool yesterday as I had planned. Instead I got the emotional turmoil of dealing with my kitty dying. At least she got to stay home for it, since I had a vet friend come by the house to administer the shot. She was in full renal failure and wouldn't have made it through the night. I did get a little bit of a workout helping Dad dig the grave in their backyard. I didn't overdo it, but it was somewhat cathartic chopping through roots with a mattock.

I did, however, make it to the pool this morning and it felt wonderful!!! I got to stretch and get my muscles moving again and I feel so much better now. I'm headed to my parents' house for an early Easter dinner with the Houston family members, then off to Austin on Sat/Sun to meet with other family there, including the newest addition to the family who arrived just after Thanksgiving. It'll be a treat to see everyone and since I will be playing guest I still get to take it pretty easy. I don't even have to do any driving, since I'll be riding with my parents.

I'm looking forward to getting back to work. I'm so glad I won't be trying to teach while drugged to the gills anymore. I'm sure my students will appreciate the difference, too, much as they dislike chemistry.

Have a great weekend, ladies!
