Bulges on stomach and flap of skin over incision

Nancy,
I am using Bio Oil, you can read about it on bio-oil.com. I get it at Walgreen's, not sure where else it is carried. But from what I have read it is probably like EMU oil and I have been using it for a couple of weeks. I haven't heard anything about massaging the area, but when I am laying down on the couch i do rub it a little, but have to be careful because it is still very tender. Heat makes me feel better too. let me know if you hear anything else, thanks, Denise

I wouldn't do anything with the incision unless approved by your doctor.

Bulges on stomach and flap of skin over incision

I too have a *NEW* skin flap over my incision and have a bulge above the left side of the incision. It certainly swells along with the swelly belly. Good to know that I am not alone. I also have a bulge in the middle of my abdomen which the Dr just diagnosed as a hernia.

Morning its done...I wanted to ask you if he just diagnosed the hernia recently? Or did you always have it? Are there any plans to fix it?

I call it old lady belly, cuz I seem to see the flap lurking under many a pair of polyester pants But I'm also working on mine (almost 3 months post-op) and hopefully I can lessen it, if not make it go away. It's not like I'll ever wear a bikini again, but I'd still like to get rid of it.

Dans_Wife: The hernia is new after the surgery. It showed uo about 5 days post op. I did have an umbilical hernia from pregnancies, but this one is directly in the center and halfway between incision and belly button.

I haven't worn a bikini since college! Perhaps I'll get another if I re-lose this 40 lbs -- but I'll have to have a ticket for a Carribean cruise to go with it.

Nancy, Its done, Dan's Wife, Soprano2
Hi girls, It is good to know I have company with the belly flap issue. Although I wish none of us had this problem. I am 6 weeks post op on friday and was hoping it would be gone by now, sorry to hear it might take a lot longer. The doctor told me it would be awhile before I can do exercising for my ABS, because of the hematoma. They said I have lots of blood vessels close to the skin, probably from doing so many crunches beforehand they said. That makes me mad to think about.
Well I will let you all know what the doctor said after my appt. on Friday. Wish me luck and maybe I will get some good news about the flap issue. Talk to you all soon, Denise
