How long to wait for sex

I had my surgery 1/30/08 and it has been 4 weeks. How long do you have to wait before having sexual activity? I really don't feel ready. But my gyno checked me 2/18/08 and said I could come back and see her in a year for my annual. I have a vaginal cuff and I am nervous. I am still spotting and just want to make sure it is healed before. Do I wait another 4 weeks before I have sex? I am not being pressured at all, just not sure.

Personally I would give it at least 2 weeks after spotting has finished, but that is just me. If you are spotting it means there is an area that is still not healed enough to keep blood from seeping and so the reverse, introducing bacteria into the wound, is also a greater risk.

I have a big sore on the outside from some kind of abrasion or cut, probably from the retractors, (when I asked my doc he pretended it wasn't there and changed the subject ) Anyway, I think it is a good measure of how my insides are healing. I'm 5 weeks post op tomorrow and the sore is still there a tiny bit so I think 6 weeks will be good for me, but if I have any spotting, I will wait another 2 weeks to try. I haven't had any spotting since week 2 or 3 so it is easy for me to say I'd wait.

I think it might depend also on the type of surgery you had. I had a TVH, and my doctor told me it would likely be 4 weeks. I have a 4-week appointment next week, and if he clears me.. my sweetie and I will definitely be taking it slow and we are both quite nervous (but anxious) about it. We'll see how I feel.

How long to wait for sex

I have been having no pain, no bleeding for a few weeks now and have been getting really anxious to try. Dh and I messed around a little last night (no penetration). I'm very pleased to say that the big "O" didn't feel any different, BUT I did have cramping afterwards.
I'm so excited that there will never ever be a wrong time of the month anymore. With the way my periods were, sometimes it would be 6 weeks in between.. Ugggg We have a lot of "catching up" to do!

Well, first off, if you don't feel like you're ready, don't do it, even if the doc gave you the "all clear"!

Next, different docs, different procedures, different guidelines. My doc told me 8 weeks! At this point, I'm only 5 days out, and not interested at all, but 8 weeks seems like a long time!

How long to wait for sex

Like someone said, different docs, different time frames... Mine told me 10 wks... that coupled with the time from my D&C in Dec... is going to push it to almost 4 months... The way I look at it is I will be the "proverbial" virgin
