Sit ups but no vacuuming?

Had my TAH and everything else taken out on 1/16/08. Went in for my 6 weeks ck up on Feb 25th and the DR said it was OK to start exercising and doing sit ups but still not to vaccum. That seems really strange to me. Anyone know why the difference in activities?

That does seem strange to me, too. Hey, maybe your doctor is doing you a favor and helping you get out of housework even longer???!!! :-)

The only thing I can think of and this is probably really far fetched is I know sometimes when I vacuum and i'm doing it fast, sometimes I'll ram my tummy into the handle because the handle comes right to where my middle is. I wonder if that could be why??? I doubt it, though. Who knows.... maybe you could call the office just to ask.... wouldn't hurt? If you do, tell us what the answer is!

wessa

Well, to me it sounds strange because I actually asked about doing sit-ups at 10 weeks post-op and my surgeon looked absolutely horrified! You could always call to double-check or, if you're not comfortable with the idea, wait a good while longer.

Take care!

Sit ups but no vacuuming?

wessa,
Sad to say but sometimes our doctors may have other things on their minds
and don't listen to everything we say.
Maybe they don't even pay attention to everything they say! lol

I'd call and ask for clarification.

I would not think sit-ups would ok just yet either - BUT I do know when you you are also 'twisting' a bit in a way you might not notice.

I think I'd call the office to inquire and see if you get the same answer.

Thank you all for your ideas - suggestions. They all make sense. I will take the suggestions and call the DR tomorrow. I know I can't do sit ups, I still am awkward just getting out of bed in the morning! I'll update with the DR's comment.
Thanks everybody!
Take care.

Sit ups but no vacuuming?

Well, I called the DR this morning and I must have misunderstood her last week. As of today I am not to do any sit ups for another 3 weeks.
So, that clears that up.
Thanks again for all the ideas and suggestions.
