Stomach irritation with ibuprofen.. any suggestions?

Hi ladies... wondering if anyone has any stomach irritation when they take ibuprofen? My doctor doesn't like to give prescription pain meds after the first week but he told me to keep taking ibuprofen as an anti-inflammatory. I want to use it to help with swelling and pain, but my stomach seems to be very irritable when I use ibuprofen. Gas increases as well as general stomach discomfort when I use it. Any suggestions or alternatives?

Stomach irritation with ibuprofen.. any suggestions?

Hi Volony1
One suggestion is not to take the ibuprofen on an empty stomach. Either take it with food or after you eat to mimimize the GI effects!
Wishing you a healthy recovery!

I was on prescription Ibuprofen (600 mg). The instructions said to take it with an 8 ounce glass of water--which I did--along with food. My stomach is pretty sensitive and I don't even take regular without eating first.

Stomach irritation with ibuprofen.. any suggestions?

I take Naproxen 500mg 2X24/7 and the only thing that keeps it from burning holes in my stomach is Aciphex. It is a prescription medication, but I'm sure your doc won't mind giving it to you as it isn't a narcotic or anything addictive or dangerous.
