Will this help my exhaustion??

I am very excited to have my LSH on 3/18/08. I've had trouble with painful periods, bloating, pain and pressure for years. I just thought it was the process of aging and the beginning of menopause, but at my last checkup I told the doctor my symptoms. She suggested an ultrasound. The results--too many fibroids to count!!

When she told me I was an excellent candidate for LSH, with a recovery period of 7-10 days, I realized that this would be possible for me. I teach part time at 2 community colleges and have NO paid time off, and I teach every semester in order to keep paying the bills. As luck would have it I'm doing it over Spring Break!

I've read a lot of good stuff on this website so far, but here's my question: Has anyone had any luck with weight loss after this? I've been dieting and exercising and really have a hard time getting the scale to move. I'm hoping this will help. Getting rid of a sick uterus and all...

I hope it also helps with exhaustion.

Will this help my exhaustion??

Hi Texsgurl,

I also had a LSH. It is still one of the best things I ever did for my long term gyneo health.

In my case...my hyst did help with my energy level. I felt very tired in pre-op. I felt 86 instead of 46 most of the time!!!

On my weight..I did lose the poochy stomach I got from having fibroids. In pre-op, I always had to unbutton the top button to make more room. Not now.

Hope that helps. Sending best wishes~

I had a lot of fibroids too, and I'm beginning to reclaim the energy that I had before the fibroids take over. Good luck.

Will this help my exhaustion??

I had massive fibroids both within my uterus and externally. All together about a soccer ball's worth! I hadn't realized how anemic I actually was until I had my pre op testing - was a hair's breath from needing to be transfused pre op.

Now that those life-suckers are out of me, I have lots more energy, even only 4 weeks post op from a major SAH.

As for the weight loss, I'm skinnier without the soccer ball, but not much lighter - the whole thing only weighed a few pounds. My fat butt, thighs, etc remained.
