Questions about running post-op

Hi ladies...

Starbgirl, I'm so glad your appointment went well!!! That is great news. You have been through so much. It sounds like you are well on the road to recovery adn back to your normal life sooner than later!

I had my 6-week check today (I posted about it on the forum).

All went well, and the doctor does not at all seem concerned about some of the pain I'm still having. he just told me this is major surgery, and the first 6 weeks are the critical part in healing, but from here on out, everything is still healing, but I can resume all my normal activities. :-)

I have 3 deep tissue massages scheduled next week and the week after next. I'm goign to try to get my insurance to cover them... we'll see. I think that'll really help me in how I feel. My muscles are just so tight. My doctor also thought massage was a great idea for me.

So, I'm going to work on getting my muscles a little back to normal, and really work on circulating the blood through my body better before I start any big workouts.

I do think it'll be 3 - 4 weeks before I even attempt to run, which is fine... what'a another 4 week, huh? haha.

Yoga sounds great, too. I actually haven't done yoga before. I don't have anything against it, but since I have my personal trainer, we always spent a lot of time at the end of our sessions stretching, and doing some yoga type movements.

Oh, I'm so happy my appointment went fine. My doctor DID stress to me that if what I'm feeling now does NOT get better or it gets worse over the next few weeks, to come back in. But, it has been gradually getting better, so I think all is good.

Can't wait till we can all start running again!!!!

Take care!
