hmm why so many bladder repairs ? are they because of fibroids or things that happened during the "hys" surgeries ?

I beleive a lot of them are due to bladder prolapse, which is usually a preop condition. My bladder had not prolapsed, surprisingly......'cause everything else did. :-)

I sure hope not...From reading all the posts, it sounds pretty common with a hysterectomy.
Teach I just finished my antibiotic and will get my pee checked on Monday.
I had a bladder sling put in and I hope I didn't do something to strain it. Even though I finished the anti biotic I still am having frequency and pressure.

I had the TOT/sling because after having 3 kids vaginally the lining of my urethra was thin and when I sneezed - had to cross legs and I don't dare go near a trampoline. So after the hyst I was worried it would get worse.

My was prolaspe before the surgery, I was having problems before but I just thought it had to do with getting older, since my mom has the problem. I am so glad to have it fixed. In my pre-surgery exam the dr. gave me a mirror so he could show me what was going on "down there" I just kept thinking "I don't want to see that....I really don't want to see that" but you know what after I "saw that" and the damage that need repair, I felt very educated and started hitting the internet to find out what was going on with my body. I know I got off the track, but I am grateful for the bladder sling, I only wish I could talk my mom into it, but she just had heart by-pass surgery in Feb, so I doubt she will ever want to have another surgery anytime soon.

Yikes - kinda have a monoply on posting right now.

I am at work and trying to procrastinate.
I'm having surgery/menopause/ADD brain.
When someone talks to me it's like 'fill in the blank's' with Deb. The simplest words elude me - yet typing is ok.

I took melatonin last night - absolutely wonderful - did not feel groggy this morning.

I heard that it releases the hormones in the brain that tell the brain that it is bed time - so when we suffer insomnia - our brains aren't doing it on thier own. (That's an amateur interpretation a la Debbie

I travel to Kenya once or twice a year and often take melatonin when I return to help ease jet lag.

Jumblebee,,,I am still having frequency and pressure too. I asked my doctor at my visit last week if my bladder had fallen. He said no, but I too have incontinence when I sneeze or vomit. I am assuming if he thought I needed my bladder repaired, he would have done it...I guess from reading your girls posts, that they can tell on a pelvic exam. I was on antibiotics in the hospital and when I came home because of previous wound infections after surgeries. I feel like I am living on antibiotics and I know that is not good.

Hi ladies, I have been trying to keep myself busy this last week and haven't been here too much. Took me a while to catch up!

I had my final checkup yesterday and both surgeons were really happy, I am happy...we're all happy. I still have some healing going on but no more stitches left in the cuff. Bladder sling is good too but she did feel one tiny bump from the mesh she said to keep an eye on. Got my okay to go back to work on Monday. Cleared for everything as I can tolerate it. Annual paps due to CIS and I need 3 clear Paps in 10 years.

This week has been so much better and feel so good, a little achy here and there but she said I should feel pretty much my good old self by 12 weeks.

DH asked if friskiness was an option last night....UGH!!! I hurt from my doc visit...I think NOT!

Toodeloo...going to get a hair cut!
